Yamaha AS series & bi-wiring

I've always been under the impression that bi-wiring did little to nothing for the sound coming out of speakers. If this is true, I wonder why Yamaha would go to the trouble of including a bi-wiring switch, with instructions in the manual, for bi-wiring speakers to the AS series of integrated amps. Is there anything special about these amps that would make it worthwile?

Nothing special about those amps that I know of that would make them more conducive to bi-wiring. The rest of your system is always a big factor in the end result.  I say give a try and see for yourself.

Some find bi-wiring makes a difference, some don’t. There are a lot of variables in play, so everyone’s situation is different, and I’m in no position to tell anyone what they can or cannot hear. At the very least, bi-wiring increases the gauge of your speaker wire. Some feel that it changes the EMI in the lower frequency wire. It’s easy for me to do with my current speakers, so have done it for years, along with bi-amping.
