I would have also started with woofers out and experiment if possible with the distance between side and rear walls... I'm also wondering if facing them toward each other would have a null effect and reduce bass?

Is there any general consensus or belief on side firing woofers on speakers?
Or is it truly just down to personal listening experience and room acoustics etc.
My Joseph Audio RM33LE sound best to me so far with woofers firing out.
