Why should audiophile deniers be allowed on an audiophile forum?

Why should we be subjected to audiophile deniers, on a site dedicated to audio?
It’s antithetical to the hobby and adds nothing to the pursuit. I want to quote something from another thread.

@djones51 wrote "exposing bull products like "audiophile switches, cables, fuses " and other highly questionable devices that serve no purpose"

What then, is the purpose of people with this agenda being on this site? To “expose bull products.” It’s fine for someone to post they tried a product and it didn’t work for them, but to dismiss entire product categories is not a discussion that belongs on an enthusiast forum.

Would a car enthusiast site stand for this type of post?

Try going on a Porsche forum, just for example, and posting that your Mustang is just as fast 0-60 and that others poster’s claims about their driving experience is “dubious.” See how long that will be tolerated

There are plenty of sites to poke fun at audiophile’s obsession with cables, power conditioners etc. Why does it belong here, especially when we can’t mute specific posters?

What’s next? Arguing that speakers that measure the same must sound the same and that we are all suckers for buying expensive speakers? I thought we got rid of trolling?

Isn’t it obvious with all the ASR related posts here lately we are being trolled?

A couple of months back I read a post here about someone that ordered a new cat8 cable from China. I tried it and posted back my fantastic results for others to benefit.

Personally that’s the kind of forum I’m interested in, not to come here to be challenged about what I hear and that since it can’t be measured so it must be “dubious.”

No one here is going to fall for your lame attempt at playing the race card. "Back in the hood" is such a common colloquialism for neighborhood (many, many decades old) that no one is fooled by your hoisting it up in your defense.

You always do this sort of thing when you’ve lost your edge in an argument that you started. Anyone can go back and check the threads to see for themselves. You start trouble, claim to be just jerking someone’s chain, and then when called out on it, lose your decorum and erupt like a fool. It’s why you’ve changed your name so many times, isn’t it?

Only think twice before accusing others of trolling, and before despising someone because they are not from YOUR political agenda or party...You have practice these accusations without end here...

The world crisis is impossible to understand with Biden/Trump polarizations...

We need something a bit more larger for perspective......

The larger perspective is where I come from. What I promote is not political but happens to be of the perspective of most sane people who are not of the alt right variety, which happens to have captured an entire political party in a two party system.

Is that too difficult to understand? To fall for the canard that there are only two parties is silly. It's not a binary choice. That, and it's not a 50/50 divide either. Allow me to illustrate. How the voting areas fell is the first map in the upper right. It's just land area and not population. The actual number of people (volume) is represented in the map below it.

What's purported to be a 50/50 split is more along the lines of 75/25, and that's being generous. All this backs up my point that I'm not being political and I just represent the general consensus of the overwhelming majority of the country. How it's portrayed in the media is a disservice and if you fall for it, that's on you.

@deludedaudiophile ,

cath·o·lic

@deludedaudiophile ,

You need to change the second half of your handle to something more catholic and all embracing.

All the best,

@deludedaudiophile ,

I feel your position is clouded by a belief that because things are relatively good today, that they will always be so. I don't share that belief and history is on my side.

Where on earth did you get that impression from what I wrote? Things are horribly askew these days and not getting any better. Sounds like you're either reading between the lines, something that isn't there, or just provocatively trolling away to have relevance and in the end, making a fool of yourself.

I feel that biological women are at a disadvantage as well in the scenario you speak of and that "canceling" someone for saying so is wrong, but it's just another opinion, isn't it? Everyone's free to say what they think, aren't they? Nothing is being forced on you, aside from having to listen.

All that "canceling" of Rowling is of minor importance and blown all out of proportion to the general population, unless you live on Twitter or some other social medium and think that's reality. If you do, I pity you.

As for "Russians are somewhat killing people indiscriminately", I hold you in the highest of contempt for that statement: it's wholesale slaughter and war crimes of the highest nature. Yes, there may be some people who are unaware of it but what's the point?

As for me being aware of that may be happening here, all I can say is what rock have you been living under and welcome to the party, pal. You're way behind the curve when it comes to the dangers this country faces in the here and now and I don't need a lecture from some tyro to warn me of what's possible.

And thanks for getting mahgister all worked up.

All the best,
Nonoise

@cd318

Me, shouting? That's rich coming from you. You're operating under the notion that you can say whatever you want but I have to watch what I say. Free speech, and the discussion of it, is a two way street.

One thing I've pointed out in many threads over the years, is that all posts should remain up for all to see, warts and all. That way all can get a handle on just who they're dealing with, and if they want, to never deal with them again if they wish.

Another is that those that cry and wail against censorship, are the first to have members posts removed after they've replied to their offending posts. Rank hypocrisy every single time.

As for the OPs question, I've already stated how I feel.

As for anyone about to be "canceled" , are you feeling guilty about something?
Is a negative response to what you say enough to drive you over the cliff decrying "cancel culture"? If so, that sounds a lot like projection on your part and a device to hide behind, which is what claiming "cancel culture" is, after all.

We have enshrined protections preventing discrimination on the basis of religion, sex, gender, ....... but perhaps are missing the big picture, discrimination for what you think.

I’ve yet to see any laws discriminating on what you think. Using platforms as a vehicle for hate, oppression, and elimination have to be regulated. Anything less is a fool’s idea of utopia.

This reminds me of the movie Forbidden Planet, where they find an old and great civilization that created a machine that could materialize everyone’s thoughts, wishes and imaginings, and in one night, they killed themselves in a mass genocide.

One scientist who tried the machine and died of it, said before passing on,
     "creatures from the Id...".

No need to write the name of your party affiliation to guess it nor the name of the party you despised..

There you go again... it's like talking to a wall.

I like your posts... You are way more economical than me...
Perhaps i must learn from you?
I may be wrong with my too lenghty posts...For sure...

This is getting too easy...

Like usual Mr. Always Right Nonoise, insult someone because this someone is out of the "party" line...

Nowhere in what I said did I mention "party" line. It is you who are injecting politics into this, not me. I've pointed that out to you repeatedly and yet you persist in lying.

You're becoming quite the horses's ass, aren't you? That, and you're revealing a rather dark side of yourself that you're continually apologizing for when others correct or challenge you. Then you pretend to agree with them and go off topic, as usual, hoping they forget what you said.

As for your insipid takedown of stochastic terrorism, it's nothing more than pseudo idealistic gobbledegook; random phrases and quotes like one would get out of a word/phrase generator run by AI.

All the best,

This argument has been around since the beginning of time. We kind of got it right when it was decided that government has no role in censorship, which is what "free speech" is all about. Everything else is just whining, crying and bitching about what can be said on a private site.

As for cancel culture, that's just the meme of the month and makes for clicks and eyeballs and is one of the stupidest memes ever. If one is really intent on getting out their message, go to nearest public square, stand on your soapbox and let loose.

There is nothing legally wrong with stating vile, ugly, insulting and dangerous rhetoric. Does that make it acceptable? The law says no when it crosses the threshold into stochastic terrorism.

All the best,
Nonoise

Absolute hogwash. You're intentionally conflating the concept of "free speech" as written in the Constitution with what can be said on a privately owned site. You don't fool anyone (with an IQ above room temperature) with your victim signaling.

All the best,
Nonoise

Perhaps also a sense of perspective should prevail, no one is advocating mass murder, ethnic cleansing or racially based conspiracy theories.

Where, pray tell, have you been?

Amazing on how many have a fundamental misunderstanding of the concept of "free speech". Because of that, it's abused to the point where it no longer resembles it's original concept. Now it's just used as a battering ram for trolls, idiots and those that wish to deceive, incite and insult with abandon.

All the best,
Nonioise

I love the way you keep proving me correct in my analysis of your responses, but it is growing tiresome. Keep your day job.

All the best,

And the cultists come out of the shadows and follow in lockstep with someone they can hide behind, thinking that in numbers, they have strength. I know a lot of this, if not all, is not going over your heads. You just refuse to relate on what little points I've brought up, choosing, instead, to keep harping on what is not transpiring. Or you really are that obtuse.

Seems to be you don't know how to walk backwards when you should.

Reading around, I came across this piece by the former CEO of Reddit and it's a very informative read. Having read it, I've come to realize that what I said some months ago about leaving here is starting to make a lot of sense as it covers what I've been saying here, just now, in a more comprehensive manner.

Come to think of it, It will most likely go over the very same heads I'm been arguing with but hopefully, some will give it a read and ponder.

All the best,
Nonoise

No mahgister, it's you who makes this a political discussion, not me. You simply fail (on purpose it seems) to conflate politics with a point of view, every single time you're in the minority or just flat out wrong. It's your last line of defense, to claim someone is being political when they're not.

That is exactly what you did when the great debate raged on about Covid and vaccines. You were dead wrong so your only ploy was to accuse others of being political, which was silly.

If one were to use a Venn diagram, the overlap with the general population would greatly overlap that of one particular party while the other one would barely do so, to the point where both circles would look almost adjacent. From that, you conclude that it's politics when one side is, for the most part, accurately reflecting the views of the people while the other is just creating their own, alternative universe, which you seem to relish living in.

So stop with your tiresome tactics and use of smoke and mirrors.

Nonoise

@jerryg123 , whatever you say jerry, or is it therealearlflynn, or is it skypunk?

You reply the same way, every single time, in the same juvenile manner that it's lost all of it's offensiveness and just looks pathetic. Enjoy your ham. 🐷

You're so predictable, pedantic and clueless, waiting to pounce on matters you're not very well versed on. But, by all means, keep on embarrassing yourself.

You're the same no matter what name you've posted under. Your past incarnations (user names) were full blown Trumpists.

Nope. Wasn't riled up in the least. It's just that I love putting you in your place with some actual facts and not brook the BS from your alternative universe. 👍

Enjoy the holidays. 😀

What's happening on Twitter is not at all like what's happening here. Way to go out yourself for all to see. The whole motive behind Musk's move is to excite TFG's base so he can manipulate the stock (again) before he dumps it, just like he did with Dogecoin, fleecing the rubes who followed his tweets.

People here can be so dense.

All the best,
Nonoise

Gotta love it when people put words in your mouth and go on to elaborate on a lie. Something tells me they've faced complaints of them in other venues (and in real life) and they've gotten good at not dealing directly but going off on tangents with their filibusters. They used to call it blinding one with BS.

All the best,
Nonoise

Some purists here just don't seem to get it. This is not a book one can choose not to read and lay down (or toss in the garbage). This type of venue relies on good intentions and honesty, above all else. All of this is done remotely so all the pontificating on what transpires in a public (not virtual) space really can't be applied here, so we rely on people behaving civilly.

When they fail to behave civilly and refuse to stay on topic, we are now stuck with them and they know it. Remote as we are, we're all part of a larger, captive audience and it seems that some take great joy in disrupting, so what I said above still applies. That freeway and lake are beckoning...heed their siren call.

All the best,
Nonoise

I don't see why trolls should be given an equal footing in a forum dedicated to music enjoyment and the gear that gets us there. F*ck free speech. That's been the rallying call of trolls, naysayers and provocateurs since, forever.

This place is not a confessional, a psychiatrist's office or some bastard form of a rappers duel. Nor is it a place to proselytize or strut around with one's sandwich board.

If you have an agenda to disrupt, annoy and troll, take a hike. You're not welcome here. So stop with the "I've got a right to free speech BS". No. You don't. You're just a few rungs down the ladder from yelling "fire!" in a crowded theater and need to grow up. Go get your kicks playing on the freeway yelling at the cars that you have the right to be there, or go swimming in a lake full of gators and tell them it's a free country and you can swim wherever you want. I need the laugh.

All the best,
Nonoise
