Why no “Break in” period?

If people say there’s a break in period for everything from Amps to cartridges to cables to basically everything... why is it with new power conditioners that people say they immediately notice “the floor drop away” etc.  Why no break in on that?

I’m not trying to be snarky - I’m genuinely asking.

Time heals all wounds.
People forgive, but they don't forget.  There are times when they don't forgive either.

Any thread that works in a reference to Uma Thurman is a thread I am going to follow..
Didn't see any.  .
Everything is made of the same stuffs - electrons, neutrons, protons ... and so on.  Car engines are made out of the same stuffs, just like cables, capacitors, inductors ... and so on.

Most people are comfortable with engines breaking-in, but finding the concept of breaking-in somewhat "mysterious" in electronics stuffs.

Of course just like human finding "rain, fire, wind" were "mysterious" thousands of years ago before real science.

At least I should be thankful that they don't attribute "breaking-in" as an act of God lols.
Many companies now put something in their manuals like, "don't worry if it sound like crap. It takes three months for it to break in." When people don't know why they make stuff up. The Greeks made up Zeus.
Actually it should read like:

Many companies now put something in their manuals like, "don't worry if it sound like crap. It takes months to break in and you know when, when you realize it no longer sounding like crap."

Metals are good heat conductor because mostly of free electrons carrying kinetic energy (heat). Car engine breaking in is possible because of friction and heat. And of course electric current in cables is carried by electron which generating friction and thereby generating heat.
Hey something just popped in my head. millercarbon and prof are the same person - like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Their damn posts are way too long.  Most of us have to make a living, cook, eat, clean up the house, take care of the yards, washing cars and stuffs like that.
Politely attacking somebody is still attacking.  It seems like millercarbon has received a lot of that, not that I am agreeing or disagreeing with him.  Hiding under the umbrella of "politeness" is not going to cut it with me.
How can prof post so fast with so many words in a long post?  Did he and his posts materialize out of thin air?  Is he in my living room with me?

Why doesn’t anything sound worse when it breaks in?
Probably the reason may be similar to why most equipment will sound "better" fully warmed up although that doesn’t really have to be the case. I intentionally used the word "most" since if I say "all", somebody will come in and say "... but, but, but I know something sound worse ... so on". If everything I say has no exception then I am "God".

On the other hand, I am pretty sure (and you cannot argue with me on this) I am much better not "warmed up" at all. And even much better with sip of wine.

3. What prevents whatever the breakin process is, to stop when the equipment sounds better? Why doesn't it continue to breakin for its entire life and continue to improve?
Can you step into the same river twice?
Can you listen to the same cable twice?

"Break-in" is a difficult thing to accept.  The word "aging" is more universally accepted.

“Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.” Albert Einstein.
lols I managed to squeeze that in.  And here is mine that even muchas better than that a$$ :-)  and mark my words.

There is no such thing as "mechanical device" or "electrical device".  It only exists in the human mind.

There is no difference in "biological thing" or "non-biological thing".  It only exists in ... oh wait ... damn I run out of hierarchy ... well may be in God's mind.

Am I a "thing" dreaming of a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming of a "thing" ...

Infinity ... coffee ... morning ... night ... infinity ...

“In the South Seas there is a cargo cult of people. During the war they saw airplanes land with lots of good materials, and they want the same thing to happen now. So they've arranged to imitate things like runways, to put fires along the sides of the runways, to make a wooden hut for a man to sit in, with two wooden pieces on his head like headphones and bars of bamboo sticking out like antennas—he's the controller—and they wait for the airplanes to land. They're doing everything right. The form is perfect. It looks exactly the way it looked before. But it doesn't work. No airplanes land. So I call these things cargo cult science, because they follow all the apparent precepts and forms of scientific investigation, but they're missing something essential, because the planes don't land.[1]” - Richard Feynman
I think the missing element was the "control tower".  And probably some RF radios.  And maybe runway led lights.

If you switch to M and P, it makes all the difference.
Instead of divergence, there’ll be convergence.
And there’ll be solution to the equations.

HURRY UP PLEASE ITS TIME
Now Albert’s coming back.
Make yourself a bit smart.

Believe it or not, it costs a lot of money to "measure".  Some run-of-the-mill PC soundcard is not going to do it.  You need at least 100K worth of equipment (and of course knowing what to measure).
