Why can't I find a definition for DSM on a web search?

Some friends and I were debating what the acronym DSM actually referred to. After a number of exhaustive searches we came up empty. We saw "Doctor of Sacred Music", "Decidedly Superior Music", "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders",  and a list of LINN products. I had thought it meant Digital Streaming Media... what's the definitive definition?

Hello Glenn,
If you are referring to the blisshq website it's most probably Synology DSM (DiskStation Manager), i.e. the OS/console for the NAS drive.
Best regards,Vuk

Linn digital streamer / digital front end components are referred to as Linn Klimax DS or DSM, Linn Akurate DS or DSM, Linn Majik DS or DSM.
DS=digital streamer in Linn vocabulary. DSM=digital streaming media maybe. I know for sure that Linn DS units only have Ethernet input and are pretty much standalone digital streamer/DAC equipped with volume control gain. They also function as preamps since Linn does not make dedicated standalone analog preamps anymore. Linn DSM units have Ethernet and other digital inputs including HDMI as well as one pair of stereo analog inputs both XLR & RCA. The DSM units also equipped with volume control gain and function as preamps as well. But the output of all Linn DS and DSM can be set to fixed and used strictly as source components and can be connected to regular linestage analog preamp or integrated amp.

I used to own all Linn Klimax gears and setup / system along with the Klimax speakers. Linn makes outstanding digital front end components. And all Linn DS/DSM have built-in DAC except if you go with their Exakt system and setup.

This page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/DSMMusicDSM/about/?ref=page_internal) indicates that it stands for "Different Sort of Music." It doesn't, however, say what's different about it and, since a lot of music is different, it's not very helpful either.  I guess you have to listen to it (I didn't) and decide.  Maybe I'm just too old! :)
Thanks jordysg, I'm aware of Pro Audio's DSM (Dynamic Spectrum Mapper) plugin. But it seems hard to imagine that when people refer to DSM music, it would imply that it had all been tweaked with a particular piece of software. I think there might be a more generic acronym they're referring to.
