Depends on your taste. The RP1 is going to be warm and tubey and is not the be all end all in terms of resolution. Good for the money but if you can afford and RP5, the RP5 is the better preamp.
The RP5 is going to be more neutral. Resolution is excellent and is an outstanding preamp with a very good built in phono stage.
