Which AV Reciever to run Bose 901's,

Trying to run Bose's 901's is a pain
with some av recievers.
Seems that you need a high end reciever w/pre-out
conections due to the Equalizer of the bose.

Any ideas on how to get around this besides
getting nwe speakers?
