Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

LP fans might find this interesting

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linn_Records

I think I requested it before it was released, an offer by Linn to promote their new Linn Records, and Linn sent me this for free.
I just bought a new integrated tube amp, Cayin A88T, so out come the set of music to see what it can do:

1. Cassandra Wilson, Blue Light Til Dawn (CD) (her voice better be right, and strong bass)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Light_%27til_Dawn

2. Guitar Trio, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin & Paco de Lucía (LP and CD)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X7V0yAofeU

3 different types of strings and types of guitars to hear and hear if the channel balance is right by awesome imaging of the 3 (or not). This really helps you set up your system, especially if you have tone controls involved, and, the wonderful McIntosh mode control allowing stereo reverse, mono, left to ... is always a great help.

3. Oscar Peterson, The Way I Really Play (SACD)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_I_Really_Play

4. Blue Nile, Walk Across the Rooftops (Original Linn's recording to demo superior LP sound)
https://www.discogs.com/artist/22485-The-Blue-Nile

5. Sade, Soldier of Love (CD)
https://www.google.com/search?q=sade+soldier+of+love&oq=sade%2C+soldier&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.7716j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Happily, the amp passed all tests. It is switchable, Triode, or Ultralinear. So far I prefer Ultralinear, however, I expect a few recordings might benefit from Triode, time will tell. It's not the power difference, 22/45 wpc, my speakers are incredibly efficient.

Haven't gotten there yet, perhaps today

6. Barbra Streisand/Donna Summers duet, Enough is Enough, sort the two voices! (CD)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwiR88o_zOA

7. Ben Webster Meets Oscar Peterson
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5IaMdhVBFo

and, always the final test

8. Jeff Wayne, War of the Worlds, (Original Double LP)(Richard Burton's voice must be right)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Wayne%27s_Musical_Version_of_The_War_of_the_Worlds#Jeff_Wayne's_The_War_of_the_Worlds:_The_Musical_Drama
if I remember right, it was a 48 track production.

amp 'new to me', it's a used amp, MK1 to get the 16 ohm taps. Newer versions make tube bias both easy and safe.
Left my letter M CD album out after Mali to Memphis last night, pulled out Jay McShann, 'Still Jumpin' The Blues'. 1st track starts harsh, just get past it, the rest is terrific, including two vocals by Maria Muldar.

and, after a 2 minute silence, track 11 begins, this 18 minute interview by Holger Petersen, what a treat

Another M,

Mississippi Fred McDowell, 'Shake 'Em On Down'.

I have this 'Tomato'  label CD

I agree with so many, the best bottleneck blues player ever!!! You feel you walked around the corner and there they were. Turn it up!.

I sometimes think "Who the heck was lucky enouth, smart enough, to be -_____ that night?" This is one of those.

If you buy a used CD, make sure it has the album notes by Tom Pomposello, he played/toured with him, very informative.

Amazon offered 1 track to stream for free, I went back and streamed it. Horrible, horrible lifeless sound.

If this was your first impression of him, you would pass. The CD is awesome.
M and Fred made me remember Muddy Waters.

When he moved west, my good friend Nasty Ned gave me his Muddy Waters LP Collection. (Ned played with him a few times).

I'll be bringing them upstairs later for a deep immersion.

Nasty Ned is a terrific blues harmonica player and singer

streaming quality isn't great, if he's your kind of thing, I bet you will love a CD of his.
Pandora via Smart TV to Home Theater Receiver/Sound System.

set to 2 channel stereo (you gotta pay attention, watch the inadvertent changes these receivers make).

Main system is down, using components for photos of amp stand(s) I will be selling soon.

Problem is, photo setup is near big tv, and Pandora's blue background is casting blue onto right side of objects I am photographing. I may need to cover the tv with something to block the blue, or turn office system volume up. Gotta have some music while doing this.
Just finished breaking in a set of KT88's in my tube amp, time to listen,

grabbed the 'D' binder, two Bob Dylan Compilations, back to back

30th Anniversary, rockers hither and thither

Christmas Music from the 1500's, 1600's, instruments from the period

My new to me tt that is coming better sound as good as this one. It's nothing special, Audio Technica and Shure 97xe, but it is a very involving system. Via phono preamp in vintage McIntosh mx110z tube tuner/preamp to Cayin A88T Tube amp.

I had excellent Thorens TD124 with SME 3009 arm with both Shure and Audio-Technica microline stylus. I really like this current one.
SKY (instrumental)

I had this in my collection, in near virgin shape, couldn't remember what/who it was.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_2_(album)

I'm so glad I re-discovered it, wonderful musicians and compositions.
