Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Currently listening to "Eat A Peach"..the Abbey Road 1/2 speed.

Not bad at all...
Neil Finn  "Out of Silence"
Gregg Allman  "Laid Back"  (QRP)
Pink Floyd  "Saucerful of Secrets"  (2016 remaster)
Fran Healy  "Wreckorder"

(lps)

@uberwaltz,

I’d be interested in your impressions on that Blind Melon lp and if you had access to the cd for comparison?

Cheers!
@sotaphile ,

I was reminded recently upon listening to Warren Haynes voice, WOW!, maybe still one of THE great rock vocallists still grinding it out.
ending the day with...

Rush "Grace Under Pressure" (Abbey Road/1/2 speed)

Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here" (Sony/2016/remaster)
Love  "Forever Changes"  45th Anniversary/Rhino/from analog masters/CB.
Dixie Chicks  "Fly" (lp)

My only other DC album was "Home"...because it was the only one that was offered on lp at the time. It is a great lp! Superior songwriting and a more mature offering than "Fly", IMO. I had to go for (Fly) now that it has been on out lp. I have fun comparing/listening. Still a good debut.

Going to put on Robert Plant  "Carry Fire" in a little bit.
cueing up my freshly US cleaned Jonathan Wilson "Gentle Spirit" (lp)..

You need it.............

Later, the first time on vinyl...

The Wallflowers "Bringing Down the Horse".. looking forward to finally hearing it through my tt!
@mapman ,

Not something I'd normally listen to. I do get the compelling nature of the music however.

Thanks for posting here. People are listening.......
so far...

The Decemberists "The Crane Wife" 10th Anniversary box/lp 5

Alison Krauss "Forget About It"
@uberwaltz,

I have their first two lps. They never fail to give my system a workout in a good way!
Grand Funk  "Live Album"  (lp)

If you didn't live through this era, it may be difficult to process,

Not for me!   WOW!

This very lp, in a lot of ways, defined me into what I am now as a child of the '60/'70s.

I hope others have similar memories?

Gomez  "A New Tide"  (lp)

Definately worth a listen  Check out  "Airstream Driver".

Happy Listening!
Finished listening to "Bringing Down the Horse"..

I wasn’t very impressed although it is a good effort.

(This is a (Capital) pressing.) I've not had great results with their choice of vinyl ...seems somewhat cheaper than most..having said this, after my pre-steam method then my US/VPI..it wasn't the deciding factor on my end-thoughts.

I have "Breach" in my US cleaner as I speak.
Suzanne Vega "99.9 F degrees"..

I bought this lp when it was first released..mine is an import.

This may be, hands down, THE greatest female singer/songwriter lp ever that never received the appropriate recognition!

Intricate, involving, ...still trying to find the right words to describe it!!!!!!!! A work of "art", no question about it!

It’s that good!

@stereo5 ,

I own the UK pressing on vinyl.

Something about this (art) involves me!

Cheers!
@ ghosthouse,

I understand your post. I haven’t listened to the (Live Album) for quite some time. It brought back a lot of good memories. In fact, it did not have the overplayed radio hits that most may associate with the band in their studio form.

I believe, I’m like you, in that the radio hits were not the bands’ best, or even their more enduring output. Why not, "Black Licorice" off of We’re an American Band. A stand out for sure that never really made the radio.

I believe my favorite studio lp they produced is "Phoenix", which may be one of their lesser known lps? I still think of them as a great band that never received the recognition that they should have.

Cheers!
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings  "Soul of a Woman"  (lp)

Her last record. Rarely does a performer like Sharon grace us. Rip Sharon.
Jeff Beck "Loud Hailer" (lp)

Finally...I have on my tt. I bought this one solely because of the high praise here. Glad I did. Love the female vocals. Wonderful!
@pops ,

It's the latest I'm aware of, although I believe it's from 2016 so, I could be wrong. Recommended!
After waiting since 1991, I finally got...

Live  "Mental Jewelry"  on my tt. always loved their sound and Ed's voice!

The Donnas  "Gold Medal"  (lp)
shhhhhh!! don't tell you family your on Audiogon while out there....

I'm listening to Vic Chesnutt's "North Star Deserter" (lp) now. When I found out his stuff was being re-mastered on vinyl I scooped them up quickly.

In-between sides of the VC lp, I'm listening to Ricky Nelson  "Garden Party" (lp)/ OP/Decca,  nice!
@nutty,

I seem to recall an Ed' (solo) record? Have any personal knowledge?
I've owned the Perfect Circle lp for years...always thought it sounded good.
@uberwaltz

Installed two HFC MC-0.5 wall plugs into my system yesterday. Everything I posted yesterday was heard with their benefit. Really liking what I'm hearing so far!

Prince "Diamonds & Pearls" / EU/(lp)
poorer only in one way......much richer in another............

Donald Fagen  "Sunken Condos"  clear vinyl
@uberwaltz,

I’m in the US.....I kind of thought you were in the UK.

(just ordered 4 more of the HFC  MC 0.5 wall plugs.)

Cheers!

My day just got even better....

Glen Hansard "Between Two Shores" (lp)

..I do admit to being biased towards this great artist...
...been a while for this one, out of the mono box..(lp)

The Beatles "For Sale".....some damn quiet vinyl!
I mentioned The Wallflowers "Breach" recently..

just relistened. Wow! Superior in every way to "Bring Down The Horse", IMO.

I've had several new lps sitting around...I'm putting on the AP/45rpm Lynrd Skynyrd  "Second Helping"  for an initial listen.
All of Glen’s stuff is excellent!!

He is also associated with The Swell Season, & The Frames. You’ve gotta get a hold of their (The Frames) lp, "Fitzcarraldo", maybe only on the now OOP/ Music On Vinyl? Mind-blowing stuff! Highly Recommended!!

If you like what you hear, read up on his journey... you’ll come to love him even more.
@uberwaltz

I am dreaming of an Equicore. Let us know how it works out, please!

My K&K Audio Trio phono-preamplifier was custom made for me by Kevin Carter with custom resistors for all of the cartridges I currently own. I can switch from mono/stereo, polarity, etc.. really nice options. In addition, I do have a Ortofon Cadenza Mono cart when needed. The Ortofon is strapped internally.

To answer your question directly, yes. It all depends on how accurate of reproduction you want to go for.

Finishing John Fogerty  "Eye of the Zombie", wow...what a talent, what a voice!
on now.....

the latest by The Mutual Admiration Society. Awesome! Lots of soul... You need the lp!

Don’t know for sure but it sounds to good to not be an analog recording.

upcoming set list...

Player...just one song.."Baby Come Back"
U2  "The Unforgettable Fire"  MFSL
Rush  "Permanent Waves"  MFSL

...later ya'll...
The Rush ended up being too much for me...

Up now... Toad the Wet Sprocket "Dulcinea" EU/lp/original pressing? Always loved this one.

..one extreme to another......
