Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

@uberwaltz - Thanks for your comments regarding "Goodbye Jumbo" vinyl. I think I'll do a bit of research and order a copy. I really like the album on CD. I think it's worth a $20-$25 investment of a decent vinyl LP.
World Party - "Goodbye Jumbo"

I bought this on CD when it was released in 1990. It's an awesome album and it sounds great on CD, especially for a relatively early CD release. I see that it was released on vinyl, but I think maybe just in the UK. Anyone hear the vinyl? Worth the investment?
@uberwaltz - Can you recommend a record from The Waterboys? I missed that boat when it was sailin'....
@ghosthouse - Thanks for the additional information. I will probably expand my World Party collection. Not sure if I'll start with the ARK collection or the original albums. I'll probably sample the albums on YouTube and decide from there.
@slaw - I love "Where Hides Sleep". Allison Moyet and Yaz were regularly on my TT back in the early 1980's and they still find there way to my TT today. Great stuff and a great voice....
@slaw - Your Allison Moyet - "Alf" recommendation lead me to this album this morning -

Concrete Blonde - "Bloodletting"

Like Allison Moyet, Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano has a huge voice that works so well with the pop, alt. rock music they were playing. I love this album (only have it on CD :~( )
@kumakahn - You're Welcome. We're all in this thing together. Pass it on......
Nils Lofgren - "Acoustic Live" - Analogue Productions Double LP - A fantastic sounding recording of a very special live session. Nice stuff.
Ken Clark Organ Trio - "Eternal Funk" - Uh, it's an organ trio, and it's funky. If you like that sort of thing.......
@slaw - I have both of those Rare Earth records. I just checked and my copy of "Get Ready" on Rare Earth Records also says The Rare Earth on the LP label. I also have a weird Korean copy, manufactured by Academy Records, and it does not say THE on the label.

BTW, I really like both of the records. But my favorite Rare Earth record is "Rare Earth in Concert". Plus I love the backpack cover that contains the live double LP. Too cool......
John Carpenter's "Vampires" Soundtrack. Good music and a really fun movie. Like a vampire western.
@uberwaltz - Yep. Great movie. If you watch it again, pay more attention to the music. It really helps set the mode for the movie. Of course, you could listen to the soundtrack too, but that's not as much fun. I do like the soundtrack, but it's more of a background music experience for me vs. a serious listen.
Lyle Lovett - "Joshua Loves Ruth" in honor of his show (along with Shawn Colvin) that I saw tonight.....
@slaw - Don't JUDGE me man! Don't JUDGE me!   :~)

Thanks for the correction.....
Streaming Radio Paradise tonight while I file the "recently played" stack of LPs. I'll be back playing records shortly. But Radio Paradise is always a good diversion.
OK, got the "recently played" LP's put away. Now back to listening to records. I'm starting out the evening with

 Lucinda Williams - "Little Honey"
I was not much of a Springsteen fan until I saw him live a couple of years ago. Now I'm a big fan. "Darkness on the Edge of Town" is a great record. He has many other good to great records too, and many highlights to choose from the prolific catalog of records. He has no trouble playing for 3-4 hours and making sure everyone leaves happy.
Strawbs - "Bursting at the Seams" on Vinyl. A nice pick up for $1.99 last weekend at my LRS.
@uberwaltz - It's a really good album. I love it. And the kicker was that it was a super clean copy, both the vinyl and the cover. And for a give away price. Somehow I missed Strawbs back in the day. Based on this record, I'll search out more by the band.
@offnon57 - That cool. I follow both of those thread. As of tonight, Analog is still king!
+++ On Tears for Fears. Both "The Hurting" and "Songs From the Big Chair" were in heavy rotation on my TT back in the mid '80's and spinning on the CDP after that. They still get the occasional spin, but I have a lot more music to choose from now....
@slaw - The National is hosting a 3 day music festival here in Cincinnati this weekend (where the band members are from and the band was founded). The festival is called "The National Homecoming". Pretty cool lineup, but I can't go :~(

Also, The Jayhawks - "Hollywood Town Hall" is a GREAT album. I only have it on an original CD. How's the reissue vinyl? I'll put it on my wish-list if you think it's worthy.

Rush - "Hemispheres" - Bought the record on release day in 1978 and still listen to it today. One of many masterpieces by one of my favorite bands......
Sitting in my listening room with my 8th grader son who is playing ARC on the xBox360. We've listened to these CDs tonight:

Jack Johnson - "In Between Dreams"
Nightmares on Wax ' "Carboot Soul"

@nutty - Yep, that's the good stuff.......

It's a school night, so he's off to bed. Switched on Audio Paradise and Neil Young playing "Cortez The Killer" is playing. Hard to beat that.....
The Cranberries - "No Need to Argue"

Beautiful. RIP Delores. We miss you......
@uberwaltz  - I love Alison Moyet. I've had "Alf" since it was released. Great album. I also enjoy her albums with YAZ, from before she went solo.
@uberwaltz  - I just listened to Frankie Goes to Hollywood - "Welcome to the Pleasuredome" last weekend. Didn't want to admit it, but since you brought it up.........

I always liked the song "Two Tribes".
