Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Brand new and sealed. Thanks @pesky_wabbitt for posting about this one.

One of a couple cassettes that came in the mail today...

Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks. Columbia 1974

This cassette is in mint condition. No Dolby labeling (74 was before it became common), but am trying it switched on in B anyway. Sounds pretty good with it on regardless.

Edit: turned Dolby off, and switched my iFi Mini Tube2 to ‘Set Mode’. Much better, smoothed out the play- back a lot. That little iFi is magical.

Getting to some freebies from @uberwaltz

John Cougar Mellencamp - Scarecrow. RIVA 1985

Cassette

Never bought a Mellencamp album before, albeit I kinda liked some I used to hear on the radio, or MTV back in the day. I think this tape is fine, but the engineering and recording technique of this album leaves a bit to be desired. Very ‘hallow’, poor SQ, and amateurish production vs some of the songs and music that deserved better. I don’t think quality recording was a concern here.....just ‘get it out there’. Probably sounded fine on most car radios. A shame really.
Had an urge to play some Eels today.

I guess you can look at it this way; after some of those ‘selections’, your preferred music will sound better than ever before. And so will your system, no doubt. ;-)

Hang in there man. I’ve gotten those occasionally and they can be painful. The last one I had was actually in one of my shoulder blades, and that sucker lasted for weeks. Excruciating at times. Of course, stubborn me, didn’t go to the Doctor. Then one morning I woke up and it was gone. Just like that.

Luckily I haven’t had another in a while, just my long lasting and persistent lower back pain.

It’s hell getting old.
Boulez conducts Bartok - Violin Concerto #2, Rhapsodies for Violin and Orchestra 1&2. Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Gil Shaham. Deutsche Grammophon 1999

Well, I was playing some selections over last weekend from my Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Anthology set #6. I have two of these sets, and always keep my eyes peeled for another at a reasonable cost. Just to check, I did a search on eBay last Saturday, and lo and behold, Goodwill had a set #3, stated in ‘good condition’ for $45. I took a chance, as that is 2-3+ times less what these usually go for.

Arrived Wednesday, opened it, and it is more like Mint- condition. I’m not sure it was actually ever played, and if so, very sparingly. So, turned out to be a great deal. And shipped out incredible fast. So, I’ll be listening to a lot of this set over the next few days.

Set #3 is live recordings from 1960-1970.

Wednesday night I played discs 1 & 2. Tonight, discs 3,4, &5. I guess my turntable is getting a break ;-)

Love these RCO anthology sets.
