Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Have a Nice Day ..... Bon Jovi.

Not my normal thing but at 50 cent still sealed in the thrift shop, well you just have to get it......
Flaunt The Imperfection ...... China Crisis.

Cassette.

This one I had serious doubts on as both the case and the tape itself looked like they had been dragged through a swamp.

But very surprised it plays perfectly and as a huge bonus the SQ is outstanding!
Apt description for this forum nowadays David........

Shades of Two Worlds ... The Allman Brothers Band.

Cassette
Got home from a gruelling week where nothing went right until Friday afternoon by when it was too late.

But nice box from the postie.

Job lot of 180 cassette tapes, mostly jazz, fusion etc.
First up.

High Voltage 2 ... Maynard Ferguson
Still Life / American Concert 1980 .... The Rolling Stones.

Cassette.

Very quiet in the music forums Boxer don’t ya think?
Invasion of your Privacy .... Ratt.

Not for everyone but no denying the killer riff to Your In Love!
David
What do you think of that Van Morrison release?
I gave it a quick listen from Qobuz while switch testing, it sounded like it was worthy of a dedicated listening session.
Glad the tapes are working out ok so far Brian! Enjoy!!

Double Vision .... Foreigner.

Cassette
Quite a haul there stereo5, in fact an eclectic mix one could say, The Doors and Bush in one session!

Great stuff all of them.

Nick of Time... Bonnie Rait, CD
LMAO stereo5. You have a good memory.
😁😁😁.

Right now.

Tug of War .... Paul McCartney.

It is my second preference for medium.
And it even has some advantage over vinyl.
Last night I fell asleep with tape playing, no harm no foul as shuts off at end.
You just never know what damage you might do to a stylus in same situation.

And my fully factory spec restored Nakamichi ZX-7 is probably going to give me best replay I am ever likely to get on cassette tape.
Looks like we are the only Audiophool who play with cassette tapes bkeske.
Oh and GK I guess..

I just sorted through my latest haul which included a lot of hard to find jazz and fusion tapes some of which are chrome.

Enjoying them right now.
Dark side of the Moon .... Pink Floyd.

Cassette from 1978 that plays perfectly.
Quite a nice surprise in my latest haul.

In fact I would have to say the SQ is quite astonishing.... And no scratches 😂😂
As far as Nak tape deck restorations go, Willy Herman is the man to go to, unfortunately he also has a 12 month wait list, thats why he is the master!
Now it really does not cost much less to have a lesser Nak deck restored than a top flight one so financially it probably does not make too much sense to do the cr-1a, if it is playing well, keep it and enjoy it.

I would look around for a good used 3 head, preferably already restored by Willy ( they do exist) or a non working one on the cheap and book it in with Willy and just wait until he can get to it.

I guess it depends on just how much you want to spend on a tape deck?

I had a 582, then went up to a 660, then found a zx7 which worked well for about 6 months then the recording went on the fritz so I got Willy to work his magic on it and could not be happier.
Unfortunately yes to pricing of 3 head Nak decks.
Any that are in fair condition and working right now are going to be $500 plus minimum.
As an example I bought my zx7 for $850 working which was a fair price and then spent near that again getting it restored to factory spec.
But really that is it, im done for now, will never need anything better.
😂😂😂😂

It is a fact that if you want an analog recording of some of the 90,s albums you have to look for the cassette tape..

The Rhythm of the Saints ..... Paul Simon.
The Exogal Comet Plus was the very first dac I ever owned.
Great little unit,  took a while to truly replace it after I got the " upgraditis" itch!
Boxer.
I would have to say it's my favorite album of theirs and it can hold its head up in supposed superior company as a class musical experience.
Well hip hip hooray!
At freaking last.
A fellow A7X fan.....👍👍👍

Do yourself a favor and buy Nightmare.
By far and away their best album ever.
Not a single bad track on the whole album.

But " Victim" gets my vote as the standout track.
If you can listen to that and not be moved you must be clinically dead.....
Arcam.
You are likely correct in that City of Evil takes a few listening sessions to grow on you.
Nightmare is instant WOW from the opening chords!
The s/t album is very good too IMHO.
A little piece of heaven being my favorite.

Hail to the King is ok.... Lol
Baltus.
Wow.
Not heard Yello in like forever, now going to have to dig some out.
Thx
