I have two new lovely acquisitions, both in pristine condition for my poor system. The first is Mozart's Requiem and Kyrie in D Minor. By the English Baroque Soloists and Monteverdi Choir, conducted by John Eliot Gardiner. Spectacular solos by Barbara Bonney, Anne Sofie Von Otter, Han Peter Blochwitz, and Willard White. Recorded in Sept and Nov 1986 on period instruments. Just stunning.
The second is Tom Waits' album Foreign Affairs, recently remastered by Waits/Brennan. Terrific duet with Bette Midler. Recorded with a live orchestra in July/August 1977. Just sounds so good with a smoky bourbon.
