Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile "Lotta Sea Lice"

I initially pre-ordered this lp. Then it took me 4 listens to feel like I could recommend it. Now....I just don’t understand that. Well, forgot that I've made significant sonic improvements to my system that will account for what I'm hearing now. Obviously, it’s not only a great record , but a great sounding record. Going to see her in July!
Welcome @bur70,

Listening to Tom Petty suddenly makes the world seem right again.

My RSD Crosby,Stills,Nash &Young "4-Way Street" expanded and re-mastered. I think @tomic601, has it. Anyone else heard it yet?

Interesting that, this title was THE one lp I tried from Tom Port as a Hot Stamper years ago, thinking it would be hard to find a clean copy. Glad to have a chance now to measure the difference....

From just the initial sounds...this RSD version is vastly superior! No _hit!
Red House Painters "Song for a Blue Guitar"   (freshly cleaned)
This is such a great record. I hope those of you who don't own it will check it out.
@uberwaltz,

As far as SQ, I have no problems with it. I can certainly hear Foghat coming through on several tunes. In that regard I like "Lookin’ In" much better for it has more of a unique sound. It does have one stand-out, IMO, "My Love’s Lying Down". Hell yeah! I wish I would had known about this band in my impressionable years.

Upon closer inspection, it was made in USA, mastered at Sterling Sound, it is the heavy vinyl that some were of that period w/ blue London label, has a period inner sleeve.

Lowell George "thanks I'll eat it here"   This record has been recommended to me in the past by a couple of friends. I have never heard it and never actively searched for it. Today, it just appeared before me, sealed. I grabbed it.
@noromance ,

The SQ is absolutely wonderful! My copy was as close to perfect as you get these days.
When I hear the original way this concert happened...Wow!. it just makes this music So much more special. I have sides 5+6 left to go.
@reubent ,

Your regimen of purging your records seems logical and one I may adopt at some point. Being single doesn't inspire such an undertaking.

I'll be on a musical hyatis. Doin' the 24/7 thang for several weeks

Since I have just cleaned this lp, I’ll put it on next, then finish out with sides 5+6 of 4-Way Street.

yes I just said...sides 5+6 my friends...….
Neil Young "Songs for Judy"

I seem to remember a thread.....years ago, when I wrote something very similar.,,,,regarding your "alt-country" writing.

Again, Wow! I usually am thinking about music I'd like to hear during my work-week. This reminded me of (how) I meant to start my "week-end listening".....

Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris "All The Roadrunning"

Thank you my friend!
The RSD CSN&Y "4 Way Street" is an awesome set. If you can find it now, get it!

JJ Cale "Live"  Every generation or so, a special artist comes along, then before you know it, this artist is gone. This lp is a compilation of several live performances. It is F+%&ing Awesome!
@jamesclarke,

The RSD CSN&Y "4 Way Street" IS the real deal my friend. It is F/...ing Awesome! Thankfully...It's out there for consumption.
No need to "tape it off ya".
@tomic6012,

You have a great memory...in addition, a great ability to put that memory into words that serve your needs.
@jamesclarke,

Wow! You wrote such a nice piece. It's a shame that many will never read it.

Love...……………...
I had a thought after reading the posts by @jamesclarke & @tomic601 ,

If the (3) of us were on a boat (fishing), and normal conversation ensued, I believe that you both would find a reason to throw me overboard since I love Son Volt but still have feelings for Wilco.
@big_greg,

I didn't take your post as a negative on my assessment.

When you decide to make a comparison, make sure to leave the volume level steady.

Love you brother.
The Cars again.

@noromance,

Thanks for the tip.
BTW, the ORB record flattener is turning out to be a great (luxury) addition to my ongoing hobby.
@jamesclarke,

Your last post reminded me that I had planned on listening to "All The Roadrunning" on Friday.....as the saying goes....so much music, too little time.
I've listened to:
Kansas "Monolith"
JJ Cale "Live"
Lowell George "Thanks, I'll Eat it Here"
again this morning.
@jamesclarke,

Hey, I'd love to read your opinion on the SQ of "Half Mile Harvest"?
@reubent ,

Before more time passes by, I was hoping you'd give a report on the Rare Earth, and the Concrete Blonde lps you picked up recently?
@jamesclarke,

Regarding "Half Mile Harvest"...…..you ain't wrong. I found it to be a wonderful sounding lp.
@uberwaltz,

Just US cleaned my The Cars "Shake it Up" domestic/pre-barcode copy. Maybe another comparison to my MFSL later?
Never noticed that boxer. However my OP/OK Computer/EU copy was very difficult to clean. This was early on before US and my best steaming methods. Everytime I cleaned it, I’d get white dots on my DD cleaning pads. I chalked this up to mold release compounds.

Great question.

A great reason to have a steamer

Playing my freshly cleaned The Cars "S/T"  domestic/pre-barcode copy to compare to the MFSL.
Jim,

Another masterwork that is very good late night.

Well, gonna do it...........

The Cars "Shake it Up" MFSL up now.
Aoife Nessa Frances "Land of no Junction"
Another one from my 'artists to watch' list. Great record!
The comparison between The Cars "S/T" lps (domestic pre-barcode & MFSL) are interesting..........

The MFSL version was, on side one, too clean. The lp overall has a slightly wider soundstage. Side two...I noticed a slight haze/film in the musical presentation. This records really seems disjointed and didn’t move me. It is tiring to listen to.

The domestic immediately was more to my liking. It has more (soul). The soundstage is slightly narrower, not a deal breaker, but the ability of it’s overall cohesiveness, to draw one in, wins the day. Interestingly, side two was a little hotter, the exact opposite of the MFSL version. Had to turn the volume down a little. Still it has the "soul" I love with vinyl playback.

The MFSL is going to ebay.
