James,
No, I don't know of those artists/musicians.  Admittedly, I am a bit slow getting acquainted with new material.  I have been exposed to some new ones via this very good thread, which I am grateful for.  I will look into those cited above.  High quality SQ makes the music that much better.  If Windham Hill is consistent with SQ on their other records too, then I need to get more of them.  And these recommended artists/musicians sound like very good options to explore.
Thank you for that.
@grey9hound  That Dr. John album sounds like it will be really cool.  I saw Dr. John at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena in 1970.  He was the opening act for the lead act, Leon Russell.  Now this is where it gets better.  We actually went to see all 3 acts, with an emphasis on the middle act.  That middle act was Elton John.  Yes, Elton John as he was just beginning to rise in fame.  What a memorable night.
Leon Russell  "Will O' The Wisp"  I just love this album

Poco  "Legend"  Talk about this a couple of days ago got me to pull it out and give it a spin.  MoFi, in perfect condition.

Michael Hedges  "Watching My Life Go By"  Promo copy, all analog recording and mixing, excellent SQ.  Outstanding, eclectic acoustic guitar style.  He can make a guitar sound like 3 instruments, at the same time.  How sad, he died in a solo car crash in 1997.  Rain soaked road and skidded off, down a cliff.  I guess his album title says a lot.
For those interested, I just today received a message from MoFi on the release of Jeff Beck, "Truth" on a 45rpm 2 disc set, limited edition to 4,000 copies, made from the original analogue tapes.  My original copy is in very respectable condition but sonically it isn't what this will be.  I go to order it and it states "sold out".  So, I contact Music Direct (who also owns MoFi) and the nice person tells me that the album has not yet shipped but they are taking orders.  He said they have received a lot of order but does not know if their allocation (when they do receive it) is yet considered as sold out.  He also explained that just the same as the other vinyl sellers of MoFi are allocated, so is Music Direct.  At this point I don't see other resellers listing it as a preorder.  Anyway, Truth is an absolute classic of the Classic Rock album era, as you all likely know.  Should you wish to get in line for this one I strongly urge that you place your order quickly.  Remember, only 4,000 copies will be made.
I hope this helps those of you who are interested in this release.
Yes Jim, Vinyl Archeologists we are...😂

Note: An eBay seller must have grabbed the picture image from the MoFi site and has it posted for sale at $499.  Literally, 10 times the selling price of retail.  The guy at Music Direct told me that zero copies have yet to ship.  It's a crying shame that people ruin the market with such greed.
@middlemass  That is so funny, I had one of those suitcase systems, too.  But I was younger, about 9 years old.  My first system, at age 19, was a Marantz 2270 receiver, Philips 212 turntable with a Stanton 681EE cartridge, and a pair of Altec speakers.  My Triumvirat album, and all those purchased from 1973 and forward, have only been played on something that would not kill the vinyl.  During high school, however, my parents Magnavox console was a vinyl killer.  I have had to replace those albums from my high school years, rightfully so.
Today...

P.J. Harvey  'To Bring You My Love'  Coincidental that the comment on distortion sounding undistorted came after I had played that album today.  It's really amazing how the overmodulation on the microphone, which is highly distorted (only intended so, and only on some of the songs) can sound so darn good.

Triumvirat  'Illusions On A Double Dimple'  Has any of you ever heard of this group?  I bought this shortly after acquiring my first audio system, in 1973.  A year later I bought their second album, titled "Spartacus".  They really play on the Emerson Lake & Palmer sound/style.  Not as good as ELP, but fun nonetheless.  It sounds very dated, and the SQ is just so so, but it brought back some cool memories of my first year in college.

Camel  "The Snow Goose'  A few others have posted recently on this band, Camel.  So, I thought to break out the one that I have, give it a clean, and spin it.  A nice listen, no doubt.

Steely Dan  'Gaucho'  Darn good album.  Can't get enough of the Dan.
I agree about the distortion be remarkably undistorted.  I don't have the album 'Dry' but I have 'To Bring You My Love'.  The recorded distortion sounds great.  Hmmm, shall we say clean distortion?

@grey9hound  Audiogon removed my post that was to you.  I have no idea what I said that would make them remove it.  I never use foul language on this forum and I was not insulting to anyone.  They filter links and phone numbers and email addresses.  I had included the link to the album on the Acoustic Sounds website.  But that situation usually shows that it was filtered, not to completely remove the post.  You can see up above, it's the post removed on July 15.  Well, whatever...I was just advising about the SQ on the record in question and where it is available for sale.  If the moderators really want to remove posts they should examine more of the mean stuff that is stated by others, on other threads.  This thread is a very pleasant one with everyone being completely civil.
You got me interested so I did a bit more reading and research on the album.  I found that the 2013 issue and the 2021 issue are both considered "imports".  Both are marketed by Rhino but the 2021 issue is blue vinyl. It is possible that the blue vinyl is a lesser quality grade and thus the complaints about noise.  I'm just conjecturing, though.  I found all this information on the Shuga Records website.  Based on the SKU number I see that my copy is indeed the 2013 issue.  Either way, I found it to be really good SQ (understanding that 80s recording style does have an emphasis on the top end) and the vinyl quality is flat and very quiet.  Nothing overly "hot" sounding and no vinyl noise at all.  Of course, I put it through the Degritter before playing.  But if an album has noise by virtue of the pressing or grade of vinyl, ultra sonic cleaning can not repair those flaws.  This 2013 issue is certainly a well done album and the latest pressing is very good quality, at least on my copy (early pressing of the stamper?).  What I find interesting is that the information on the Elusive Disc website indicates the pressing is done at RTI (which is typically excellent) but the sticker on the back of my album states "Made In Germany" and thus is an import.  Does RTI have a pressing plant in Germany?  I copied and posted the description from the Elusive Disc website, below.  The SKU number for this one is the same that is on my record jacket.  Bottom line, this one sounds great!
I hope this helps and does not create any confusion.

High Quality 180g Vinyl! Pressed at RTI!
Laquers Cut From Original Analog 2-Tracks By Chris Bellman At Bernie Grundman!
@noromance  I have that Alice Cooper album, bought it new when it first came out, and then saw the concert of it (at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino).  It was a very good recording and always sounded quite good.  Just a few months ago I received a gift from a cousin, the MoFi release of the album.  They did a great job on that one, it sounds even better.  Vincent Price is in the room.  Spooky...

Grover Washington Jr  'Inside Moves'  Such a nice album, great saxophone.

Steely Dan  'Aja'  MoFi release.  They did a great job on this one, too.  I bought it NM/M- a couple of years ago, for $90.  Had to have it when I was unable to find my original copy.  Now I see the MoFi issue going for $300 to $400.  What has happened with the insane prices on great vinyl this past year?

CSNY  "Deja' vu"  Just got this Rhino reissue which includes 4 CDs.  The packaging is superb but the SQ is rather disappointing.  It sounds hard, rough, and very digital.  My guess is the vinyl album in this set was not made from the analogue tapes, but from a digital file.  What a shame, I was so counting on a pleasant sounding copy of this album.  I have the CSN on order for the One-Step issue coming out sometime later this year.  Maybe they will also issue CSNY in One-Step, at some point.  If so, I'll buy it and sell this one.

Off to the NBA game now (on TV, I'm not traveling to Wisconsin).
I forgot to mention, the Jennifer Warnes album is on Impex label.  Anything you can get on Impex, get it.  They really do everything very well.  Superb production quality.
Several good albums from later afternoon into the evening.  With a halibut steak done on the Traeger grill, in between sets.  Yum!

Neil Young  'After The Gold Rush'  The other Neil Young reissues are very good.  This one is terrible.  Very warped and sounds lousy.  Back it goes.

Joni Mitchel  'Blue'  Reissue, last year.  Sounds excellent!

Tears For Fears  'The Seeds of Love'  I got this a couple of weeks ago.  Very good 80s album, I thoroughly enjoy it.  Good SQ but very much the "wall of sound".

Jennifer Warnes  'Famous Blue Raincoat'  Outstanding limited edition reissue, mine is 825/1000.  Blue vinyl, only 1,000 copies made from Jennifer's personal analogue tapes.  What vocals!  What sonics!

Talking Heads  'Speaking In Tongues'  Finally came off of backorder, since January.  Made in Germany, this is by far the best sounding of all of the Talking Heads albums.  Great music, no doubt, but also the best recording, mixing, mastering/plating/pressing on high quality vinyl of the bunch.  Very flat and very quiet.  I believe there are still some available.  If you don't already have this one in your collection I highly recommend it, for all the right reasons.  Just stunning!
@spiritofradio  I just received the Deja' vu album.  Atlantic/Rhino, as noted on the paper insert, and as you had indicated.  What a beautiful total presentation of packaging.  I also received a new copy of Talking Heads, 'Speaking In Tongues'.  I'll put these through the Degritter and thoroughly enjoy.

My wife is leaving tomorrow morning with her cousin, going to Las Vegas for 2 days.  Have fun!  I'll be spinning vinyl for a very significant portion of those 2 days.😊
To answer the question.
I wish that my wife enjoyed the hi-fi even half as much as I do.  About 98% of the time I play my system she leaves the room, no matter what the music is.  I take showers daily so it's not that I smell bad.  She liked the Marvin Gaye album I played on Saturday night, but then left the room after the next album went on.  You guys are lucky that your spouses enjoy the music and the good hi-fi.  I have had from very good and up to great hi-fi systems since the age of 18.  When we dated I had a very large bi-amped, bad-ass Accuphase system, and it was the center of every day living.  She loved it and all of the music styles.  She never used to be the way she is now, but alas, sometimes people change.  It won't stop me from my lifestyle of hi-fi.
Last night & today.

Marvin Gaye  'What's Goin On'

Alan Parsons Project 'I Robot'  UHQR that I bought new in 1983.

Pink Floyd  'The Wall'  UK pressing, that I bought new when it first released. Excellent!

Isaac Hayes  'Black Moses'  Sides 1 & 2, Craft reissue.  I pulled the trigger on buying this issue.  However, as @slaw said, the Craft pressing is just OK.  Correct, just OK but not really great.  Oh well...

John Klemmer  'Touch'  Very smooth and relaxing album.  The saxophone sounds so good.
I have Rush "Moving Pictures" as an original pp issue.  It is so wonderful SQ but I bought the reissue done on DMM process and was somewhat disappointed.  Snappy, dynamic and all that, but the timbre and overall tonal quality seemed thin.  Quieter vinyl, but I prefer my original copy for the better SQ.  Interesting, as Jim stated, in theory it should be better.  But, it is what it is.  And I know what I like.

Just received my backorder copy of Marvin Gay "What's Goin On".  I look forward to cleaning it and then spinning it, later tonight.
Reading the posts in recent days inspired me to a couple of albums.

Barrabas  S/T  @slaw Steve gave me the lowdown on this album last year.  I bought it and have been very pleased.  Very good music, very well recorded, and a very well manufactured piece of vinyl.  Sounds great!

Traffic  'The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys'  Friday Music, from the original tapes, on translucent blue vinyl.  Rainmaker is my favorite on this album.

Jethro Tull  'Stand Up'  The Steve Wilson remix.  Excellent!
David Bowie  'Station To Station'

Grover Washington, Jr.  'Winelight'

Grover's saxophone has never sounded so good in my home.  My new amp has really bloomed.  It's there.  This is awesome!
Spirit, thanks for the quick reply.  On the sites Acoustic Sounds and Elusive Disc the listing only shows Atlantic and no mention of Rhino.  I went to the Rhino site and they don't have any listing of the album.  Hmmm...
Then I read all of the description and, indeed, it states this is a Rhino release.  They typically state that on the listing but, oh well, it really doesn't matter.  I have the first album on order for the UD1Step release (which will likely ship later this year).  I'll get this to complete the set.  These two albums were a part of life in mid-teenage years.  Of course those copies became thrashed.  I need to replace them.  Thanks again.
@spiritofradio   I can't seem to find Deja Vu on Rhino Records.  The Atlantic label, box set with 4 CD and the vinyl is available at $99 and is well reviewed.  I'd rather just get the vinyl alone.  Any suggestions?
@gpgr4blu  Yes indeed, I saw Summer of Soul this past weekend.  It was fantastic and I am so glad the video was resurrected.  I'll have to play my DVD of Woodstock sometime soon.

@big_greg  please do let me know how your Srgt Peppers album sounds.  Mine is standard black vinyl and is dead quiet.  The packaging is outstanding but the SQ sucks, very thin with no real depth of warmth.  Very disappointing.
The Beatles  'Srgt Peppers'  Japanese import.  Crappy SQ, what a crying shame.

Atlanta Rhythm Section  'Champagne Jam'  Darn good album!

Carole King  'Tapestry'  MoFi Original Master Recording.  Excellent album, fantastic pressing.

Dire Straits  'Brothers In Arms'  Phenomenal, as usual.
@big_greg  +1 on In Search Of The Lost Chord.  I played that a few days ago, it's one of my all time favorite Moody Blues albums.

Listening to a handful of albums recently played on my previous amplifier.  I'm looking for the difference in sound quality.  Oh my, what a difference there is.  Mid range, is just velvety.  Bottom end, is luscious.  I could go on, but, WOW this is awesome!

Hiking tomorrow (a medium Summer starter hike of 7.2 miles, round trip, with 2,400 feet of elevation gain).  Then a shower and more sonic delight with vinyl.  Have a nice evening, guys.
@waltersalas  Those Fyne speakers look great.  If they sound as good as they look then, right on, do enjoy them.  When I first saw them I thought to myself, "hmm, looks like a brother to Tannoy"  And now you explained it.  Makes sense.

Talking Heads  'Little Creatures'

Paul Simon  'There Goes Rhymin' Simon'  I got my first real hi-fi in January of 1973.  This album came out a few months later and it is one of my first new album purchases.  I have had it and cherished it ever since.  In perfect condition, it sounds wonderful.

Paul Simon  'Graceland'  25th Anniversary Edition.  Wonderful album. Outstanding reissue, SQ is just fantastic!
Now, with 32+ hours on the new amp I am beginning to dig into some premium vinyl.

Getz/Gilberto  AP/QRP 45 RPM.  This is a real treat.  It's like the musicians are in the room with you.

Miles Davis  'Kind Of Blue'  AP/QRP UHQR.  I got this about 6 weeks ago.  Limited Edition #1177.  They make 1,000 copies off of a master stamper and then use a new stamper for the next 1,000.  Thus, my copy is 177 on the next stamper.  What a great production on one of the all time jazz recordings.

The 3-dimensional depth, spatiality, and natural tonal timbre is astonishing.  I look forward to this weekend.  Aural delight!  I busted the budget, but holy cow, this is the best sound I have ever owned.  Time to enjoy life.
I have had my Degritter now since February.  It's awesome!  It's expensive but considering it was purpose built, from R&D to engineering to production, it is by far the state-of-the-art in todays US vinyl cleaning options.  As puffball08 stated, cleaning is a breeze if/when necessary.
Note; Degritter recommends to clean the entire system every few months or so (depending on how many records you may have cleaned) with a 10% ratio of white vinegar/distilled water and running three full cleaning cycles with this solution.  I do that and then run another 2 cycles with only distilled water in order to be certain there is no lingering molecules of vinegar before inserting my next record.  I highly recommend this machine, if it is within your budget.
The new amp is beginning to bloom.  Only 25 hours on it, should be much more blooming still to come.

Michael Franks  'Tiger In The Rain'  Direct-Disc Labs, half-speed master.

Leon Russell  'Will O' The Wisp'

The Cars  'Panorama'
Played these over the last few days as part of the process for breaking-in my new amp.  Tried some I have not listened to for many years, others that I am very familiar with more recently, but nothing of particular reason.  Just listening to music.  As the amp gets more hours on it I will be more serious on selection of albums, seeking the deepest of what the amp has to offer.  Probably by Saturday night.

Moody Blues  'In search of the Lost Chord'
Stevie Ray Vaughan  'The Sky is Crying'  (sounds phenomenal)
Ambrosia  S/T  (got the ideal for this one from spiritofradio; great SQ)
Leo Kotke  S/T
Firefall  'Luna Sea'  Great album I have had since inception, 1976.
The Motels  'All Four One'  My favorite from The Motels.  Excellent SQ.
Fleetwood Mac  'Rumours'  Great album, good SQ but not excellent.
Firefall  'Elan'  Their second album and not even close to the first one.
John Mayall  'John Mayall & Friends'  Excellent Mayall, excellent SQ.
Love  'Forever Changes'  Recent reissue, outstanding SQ!  Great album.
To answer Steve's question, "where is everyone?", I have been out fishing and also to NBA Conference Finals games.  I got a nice bluefin tuna but certainly not my limit.  More fishing trips lined up for August/September.  I'll get my share!  I got the new amp set up last Monday and have been running some white noise for break-in.  I'll be spinning vinyl and listening to it for the first time, later today.  And then, yes indeed, bluefin sashimi for dinner.  And plenty of it  😊

This new amp is the most impressive single piece of hi-fi product I have ever bought.  I have been fortunate to have had some very nice systems over the years.  My present one, and now with this amp, I believe is the end game for me (other than a few tweaks here & there).  I am so thrilled, check it out if you wish.    VK-90t Power Amplifier — Balanced Audio Technology
My original copy of Joe's Garage is a bit on the bright side.  Still, a great album and I certainly enjoy it.  But maybe the DDA recording process is the reason is seems to be rather bright.
@big_greg  Thank you for the information.  I placed my order with Music Direct.  They could not offer an ETA.  I hope that it's before the end of this year.  Thanks again.

Steve, is that UD1S for CS&N a preorder being taken at Music Direct?  Or from some other vinyl retailer?  I would like to get it on order.
Please advise.  Thank you.
I would really like a NM copy of Billion Dollar Babies.  I saw Alice do that concert when the album first came out.  At the Swing Auditorium, in San Bernardino.  Center stage, second row.  WOW!  I recently got a very minty copy of Welcome To My Nightmare, MFSL.  My original copy is very good but the MFSL is excellent!

My system is down this weekend because I had to disassemble my equipment rack in order to move it 3 inches to the left in order to accommodate a new ampstand that will sit along side the equipment rack.  Of course, that means for the new amp, which I pick up tomorrow.  The ampstand arrived on Friday.  There is more to this venture than it sounds.  Carefully moving the electronics, all of the connections carefully placed back again, the hefty 6061 aluminum legs of the rack, etc.  And then, I'm out for bluefin fishing this week.  I'll be back to hi-fi next weekend.  Can't wait to break in the new amp and hear it go through the changes of SQ improvement after 24 hours and then over the first 72 to 96 hours.
I wonder why two posts have been removed (see above).  This thread has never been mean spirited or negative in any way.  What could possibly have been stated that caused two posts to be removed?  Just doesn't make sense.
Puffball, you are the only other person I have come into contact with that has Thunderclap Newman "Hollywood Dream".  I have had that since it first came out.  Awesome album!

Sparks  "Indiscreet"  This is the other Sparks album I have.  I think they released only two, I played Kimono My House a few days ago.  Strange albums, but I do like them.

Phoebe Snow  "Second Childhood"  Sounds so good...
I use live bait that are about the size of croaker... But really, if those were caught with the grandkids then they are "trophies" in their own rite.  Very nice!

Steve, 'The Seeds Of Love" reissue is exceptionally quiet vinyl.  As I said, it has the 80s recording SQ (a bit tilted up on the upper mids and highs) but far from obnoxious.  Bass lines are superb (especially with the two MyMats and now my corner bass traps).  The overall production from the studio mix has great depth of staging and imaging.  It's a really good album, both musically and production wise.  Highly recommended.
leo Kotke S/T   Nice way to warm up the system.

Tears For Fears  'The Seeds Of Love'  Recently got this very well done reissue.  Had to play it again.  Very entertaining, great music.  Very 80s sounding type of recording SQ, but quite enjoyable.

Roger Waters  'Amused To Death'  Musically, this is a very good album, but probably not up to par with some of Waters greatest attributes.  However, the recording method by using Q-Sound technology is rather astonishing.  While not an album for listening to tonal accuracy of string instruments or human vocal accuracy, this one certainly brings the level of entertainment to an extraordinary level.  It's quite amazing and very enjoyable.  And AP/QRP puts out an exceptional quality piece of vinyl.
Sparks  'Kimono My House'  I bought this when first released, in 1974.  A rather unusual album, but I like it.  I have their other album, from 1975, and will play that in a day or two.

Traffic  'John Barleycorn Must Die'  Excellent Traffic album, and well recorded.

Stomu Yamashta . Steve Winwood .. Michael Shrieve  'Go'  This is really a great album.  It will take you on a ride, for sure.  SQ is fantastic!
The new bass traps are working wonders for me.

Leon Russell  'Will O' The Wisp'  What a wonderful Leon album.

Boz Scaggs  S/T  Cleaned this in the US machine and it is much improved.  Then again, I have also added some room treatments.  It's still not the recording quality I long for, but what a wonderful album.

Tears For Fears  'The Seeds Of Love'  This is probably the best 80s album.  I just received this remaster/reissue after being on backorder since January.  Very well done and the vinyl quality is superb.  Excellent music, and equally excellent production quality in this reissue.  Highly recommended.
Jim, I have succeeded at 4 BFT in the past 5 years.  40 lb, 80 lb, 130 lb, and 150 lb.  My hope is to get 4 more, this season alone.  60 lb to 110 lb would be perfect.  That 150 lb BFT nearly killed me...LOL  And yes indeed, a culinary pinnacle.  The most awesome sashimi, sushi, seared, and smoker grilled.

Enjoy the beach, the music, and certainly the shrimp.
@tomic601  Nice to hear that your shrimping was a successful trip.  Enjoy the catch!  The bluefin tuna are really biting now but I can't go on a trip until after my wife returns from a vacation with her cousin.  Around June 21 I should be able to go and get some BFT.  I also have 3 more trips lined up for August/September.  Stock the freezer!

The Beach Boys  'Surf's Up'  Analogue Productions / QRP.  Excellent!

The Motels  'All Four One'  I think this is their best album.  Excellent music and just as great in SQ.

Miles Davis  'Kind of Blue'  Analogue Productions / QRP  UHQR.  I just received this and it is fantastic!  Recently released as the latest UHQR album.  If you like this album I can say it is definitely worth the price of admission to get it on UHQR.

After a 3 months wait I finally received my bass Tri-Traps from GIK.  That really made a nice difference.  I have achieved another level of bass definition.  I knew it was there, I just had to get these corner traps to get the results.  And indeed, it does the job well.
@flennon   Welcome, you're going to love this thread.  I get great ideas of what to play and/or what to buy from here on a regular basis.

The Moody Blues  'In Search Of The Lost Chord'  I love this album.  Saw them in concert just after it released.  My second time to see them.

Leo Kottke  S/T  Great album of guitar picking.

The Motels  'Little Robbers'  Got the idea to play this from a few posts above.  Great album, I have had it since it was first released.  My copy is particularly good with quiet vinyl, pin-point imaging, and great dynamics.

Note; for you NBA fans, I'm heading to the Clippers/Mavericks game tomorrow night at the Staples Center.  Center court, 7 rows up from the floor.  And I scored them for free!
I have that Boz Scaggs album.  Bought it new back in about 1974 so it has to be a reissue since it was first released in 1969.  The record is in perfect condition and even the jacket is M-.  Wonderful music, my favorite Scaggs album.  However, my copy is not so great in SQ.  I played it a few months back but now I'll give it a deep cleaning with the US machine and see if that helps.  Fantastic album!
P J Harvey  'To Bring You My Love'  Great album, very well recorded.

Thomas Dolby  'The Flat Earth"  Had to listen to this again before refiling it.  Fun album and my favorite song is "I Scare Myself"

King Crimson  'In The Court of the Crimson King'  What a classic album cover, and album.  I saw the cover above in @earlflynn comment.  I got this copy 2 years ago, a reissue of 200 gr weight.  A little noisy vinyl, which was surprising.  The original recording is a bit rough but they did a good job remastering and "approved by Robert Fripp".   I listened to the original album upon release, in high school.
What a lovely group of people.  It never ceases to please me, reading this thread.

To all, have a very safe and healthy Memorial Day.  Enjoy the fine music and food.
@bkeske

I forgot to mention, Brian, enjoy that new phono cartridge.  There is another world of music finesse with such a cartridge.  Just be sure that you set it up properly, to exact specifications, with a quality alignment tool.
Ah, this forum (AG site) is functional again.

It's a warm Spring day here so I'm playing all of the The Who, "Live At Leeds" album.  This is the 3-disc set, half-speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios in 2016.  Very well done and it's the entire concert, not just the selected songs that were originally issued on the album in 1970.  I saw this concert tour in the Summer of 1970 when The Who did their North American tour immediately following the release of the album.  What memories (I was 16 at the time but I do have a very good memory).
I haven't used a clamp since I got my double MyMat system.  I'll have to try a clamp just to hear what the difference is.  I typically don't use a clamp anyway, unless there is some serious warp to deal with.  I will play an album with no clamp and then play it again with a clamp.  An experiment, in a way.
Brian, I looked for the best possible recording quality, short of the one-step (because it's no longer available) and found this to be very well reviewed and reasonably priced, considering the 45 rpm and other attributes.  It's currently on backorder but that will change, eventually.  I will be placing my order and be patient for the eventual good surprise of the package on its way.  I hope this helps.

Charles Mingus-Mingus Ah Um-45 RPM Vinyl Record|Acoustic Sounds
David Grisman  "Quintet '80"   Warner Bros, Promo Copy 1980.  If you like strings in a quintet this album is for you.  Pretty darn good SQ, too.

Jethro Tull  'A Passion Play'  Released in 1973, which is when I bought it.  In perfect condition.  A truly great Tull album.  Very good SQ.
Gentle Giant  'Free hand'

The  Doobie Brothers  'What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits'

Neither of these are great SQ, but they sure are great albums, especially the Doobies.
