So, the Knopfler box is all the Abbey Road remasters, right? Since I agree with @slaw about Local Hero, the box might be more of the same?

@j_husker  Who won the Local Hero shootout? Was it a buzzer-beater or a blow out?

@slaw @bkeske Agree w/Brian that trying the various loading resistance options can't hurt any more than turning a tone control would. I'm pretty sure that capacitance settings only affect MM; that's why Soundsmith doesn't have a recommendation for it regarding their MIMC & MCs.

Most MM phono stages have only one fixed value that is so common that almost all MM carts are built with it in mind. OTOH, I've seen old threads encouraging tweaking capacitance on certain models if you have that flexibility. So Steve, you have that flexibility if you ever experiment w/MM.

Fantastic SQ and great music by Byrne/Eno. Mastered by G.Calbi@Sterling.

@slaw

How’s the SQ on the McMurtry lp?

Thanks for that info Spencer.

Good, not great. Mine is quiet but mastering isn't super spacious. Songs are great. Tight band w/Charlie Sexton and Kenny Aranoff. It's a solid album, but 3 sides on vinyl always rubs me the wrong way. Couldn't they find a couple of acoustic demos or something unreleased to throw on side D? Same deal on Childish Things.

@slaw If the loading doesn't get ya there, there's also cable rolling(both phono & power) for that final seasoning.

Audia is good stuff! My old friend Mark Conti, who's making these now https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2021/09/24/mc-audiotech-forty-10-loudspeakers-review/, used to have Audia in his reference system before he and Vytas started Veloce Audio.

@slaw looking forward to your thoughts on SQ of The Spur. I love the music when streamed. Know anything about the mastering etc?

@big_greg You do VPI before US? Ever try the opposite? I would think US would loose up stuff deeply embedded, and a post US rinsing is a good idea.

Foghat - Rock and Roll Outlaws OP

if I’m forced to answer, yes, it’s in my top 5 all time

I love this considering it comes from the guy who turned me on to Balmorhea. Wide taste...a sign of genius!

@tomic601 made me do it! This $3.99 beater sounds surprisingly clean. Dynavector must be steering around the potholes.

Monsters of Folk "S/T"

2009/Shangri-la Music

Great album, I listen to it regularly. Almost too much talent for one project.

Been sampling lots of Qobuz stuff the last few days, many based on suggestions from many here:

Joan Shelley (The Spur, S/T, Like The River Loves The Sea)

Father John Misty (Chloe, God's Favorite Customer)

Sarah Jarosz (Blue Heron Suite)

Joss Stone (Soul Sessions Vol2)

Flaming Groovies (Shake Some Action)

Brian Jackson (This is...)

Jack Johnson (Meet The Moonlight)

Strand of Oaks (In Heaven)

Danish String Qrt. (Wood Works)

It's a vinyl-cleaning morning here w/ fresh LRS pickups jumping out of their jackets!

Szell conducts Sibelius - Symphony No. 2. Concertgebouw

That's like your personal musical version of Charlie's Angels!

@bolson @spiritofradio 👍

That Charlie album just grabs me, one of just a few I own where I almost always listen to both sides

Yeah, No Second Chance is a gem IMHO! Songs that get "stuck in your head" all day. Fight Dirty isn't bad, but not at the same level.

On first listen, I am in love with this. How'd I not know this wonderful music? @spiritofradio so which album of theirs do I need next?

Sublime stuff, quiet pressing, typically exaggerated hardpan early stereo mix. Maybe Barney's best?

One of my top ten albums of the last decade. Peter Buck on guitar, Glen Kotchie on drums, Tucker Martine recording made in Portland. How can you go wrong?

@slaw, thanks!

Mostly dug out of my moving experience, trying to squeeze more fun stuff every day.

For the last couple of months @tomic601 @spiritofradio @nicks25 @bkeske have been the only ones subjected to my rants on another venue. Thanks for keeping me sane, guys!

Recorded by the legendary David Hewitt in the Record Plant Mobile Studio. Mastered by Bob Ludwig. A rock n' roll time machine that you'll probably see in the $3 bin.
