OK, I'm here. Lucinda is sounding, very, very good! |
Sam McClain "Keep On Movin'" |
@boxer12,
I’m not at all adverse to mm carts. In fact, I have an Acutex 420STR, I had re-tipped with a Shibata stylus a couple of years ago that mates perfectly to my ET-2.5 tonearm. This stylus is much quieter and more detailed. This will be the combo I’ll use on my tt project. I have a really nice compressor/filter system set-up for this application. Well, to be totally honest, I had an original Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood cart , I guess 8 years ago? Probably more...………
The Back Keys "Turn Blue"
Steppenwolf "S/T" AP
Sounds Fantastic!
I'm looking forward to listening, today, these lps…………….
Neko Case "Hell On" Sun Kill Moon "Ghosts of the Great Highway"
Glen Hansard "Rhythm & Repose" |
@big_greg,
Common' bro...
Between The Kinks and Prince...you shoulda' figured that one out. |
@big_greg,
Is your's the Chris Bellman remaster? |
@boxer12,
Regarding your bearing material, I assume you liked the hard coating over the softer metal....the hard coating for dealing with wear and the softer metal for dealing with damping resonances? ………………………………………… Them "The "Angry" Young Them" Sony/Legacy/mono. Whoa! The music jumps out of the speakers!
Neko Case "Hell On"
Eagles "Hotel California" DCC ……………………………………. @6t5-gto,
Regarding Yo La Tengo, I played "Electr-O-Pura" last week and it really sounded very good. Putting on "Painful" now.
@boxer12,
Regarding the use of carbon fiber and balsa....Richard Vandersteen used a mix of those two materials in the driver cones in his (7) speaker. I’m going by memory but believe I’m correct. He is an avid pilot so his use of balsa makes sense from that aspect...light and stiff. ………………………………………………… Glen Hansard "Between Two Shores"
Other Lives "Rituals" The National ’High Violet" |
Birdy "S/T"...Wow!.. a tween with SUCH a mature voice..... The Rosebuds "Life Like"
Pinback "Summer in Abaddon" Neko Case "Hell On"
Feist "Metals" Excellent! |
@n80,
Hi. Here’s the long version.... I own two copies of "Middle Cyclone". One is black vinyl & the other is clear vinyl, The clear is slightly more open. Compared to "Fox Confessor....", I think "MC" is not quite as open. "FC" has tons of air. They both are great lps in terms of content. "Hell On" is IMO, much better than her last, "The Worse Things Get...", in fact I’d say it may be her (best) for content? SQ is very good although somewhat inconsistent. One’s set-up/room will be critical to hear "HO" at it’s best. If you haven't already, check out the Case,Lang,Veirs lp. …………………………………………………..
Thea Gilmore "The Counterweight" 45rpm Excellent!
Melissa Etheridge "Breakdown" Joss Stone "LP1"
I hadn’t listened to Joss Stone in a while but she can sound eerily similar to a young Bettye LaVette. …………………………………………
Atlanta Rhythm Section "Champaign Jam" MFSL!
"Wade In The Water" recorded by many, .Eva Cassidy
Johnny & Edgar Winter "Together" Buffalo Springfield "Again" mono/box set
The SQ on this Buffalo Springfield Box, IMO is excellent. I haven't heard the entire box, just the monos of 1&2.
@boxer12,
I made the decision earlier that I’d pull another all-nighter. Hopefully, we’ll find some common ground my friend? You should check out Pinback. All of their lps are close to (10). On top of that, they are rockin'.
Putting on The Outlaws right now!
HELLO!
What's next?
Valley Maker "Rhododendron"
Yes "The Yes Album" 45rpm/box/Friday Music !
Up next... The Outlaws "In The Eye of the Storm"
The Black Keys ""Turn Blue" |
I'm here and ready to roll. As far as (rock) goes, well..? |
next up.....Kansas "Audio Visions" |
Are you familiar with Sparklehorse?
This may be our (connection). Sparklehorse "Dreant For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain"
In keeping with the time of year.....
The Edgar Winter Group "They Only Come Out at Night"
@boxer12,
I assume your music posts are lps, right? I’m wondering where you find these (off the tracks) lps? …………………………….. I bought a copy of Buffalo Springfield "Again" around 3 years ago that was marked as a 1st pressing. It was/is one of THE worst sounding lps I now own. It has a solid yellow ATCO label. Of course, now I know it should have had the tri-colored label.
BTW, How's the cart settling in?
My Stillpoints Aperature (nailed it) in my system!
Hey dude, I'm putting on Kansas "Audio Visons". It's not my all time favorite but it totally rocks! ""Leftoverture" is my favorite by them. |
Well...I was wondering and hoping ya'll would eventually chime in. |
Hey, I own that lp. Gonna complete The Outlaws....then Kansas.
Death Cab For Cutie "Thank You For Today" |
@reubent,
Interesting!
I’ve hailed "In Between Dreams" as a Sleeper for years. You mentioned "Brushfire Fantasies". It should be "Brushfire Fairytales"
Alan Parsons "I Robot" MFSL |
OK?
Chicago "Transit Authority" MFSL
Noah Gundersen "White Noise" |
@boxer12,
Let us know how the show was! (BTW, I highly recommend the Synergistic Blue outlet!) It's rare that a product such as this can have such a profound positive effect. …………………… Spoon "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" …………………………. BTW, the aforementioned "GYBR" DJM pressing......since I find it so rare these days...this lp is actually pressed on center! WOW!
@boxer12,
Regarding the Graphene Contact Enhancer.. I have not tried it. If you’ve read that thread, I had some issues with the OP. Given that, right now, I’m not willing to take my system apart and apply a product. ………………………… Giant Sand "Tucson" ……………………….. @reubent Courtney rocks dude! BTW, she started her own record label... Milk
@reubent ,
No need to apologize brother. I really appreciate your input!
"In The Dark" is a heck of a lp! Superior pressing? Yes. |
@boxer12,
You know me too well my friend.
