@slaw

Spoon "Hot Thoughts"

great album & tour(w/ Cage The Elephant & Beck)!

@thegreenline thanks for jumping in! You've got friends here.

Thanks for the Paul Rodgers tip Spencer, a copy’s on its way. Spell check wants to change it to “Rogers” again…

It's like BadCo & "Dusty in Memphis" had a baby.

@6t5-gto

Harry Nilsson - Nilsson Schmilsson - Mofi 45rpm - so excellent

Bring it over, please!

Recorded live-to-2track tape in the studio with full orchestra. Shelly Manne on drums.

"The Shins performance on October 6th, 2012 inaugurated the groove-carving voyage of Third Man Record's 1953 Scully Lathe that previously churned out masters for Cincinnati's legendary King Records. The 8 tracks on this live recording mark Third Man Record's first ever cut live direct-to-acetate."

Big +1 for Romantic Warrior, the LP that got this pre-teen rocker into jazz eons ago.

@bslon @slaw My Classic Records Rough Mix sounds great. "Street In The City" is a demo track. Perhaps my standards are lower. I looked and they appear to have only done one run, so probably same batch.

One of my top albums all time, finally on vinyl. IMHO the pinnacle of his career. Remastered by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound. It's 99% gotta be from digital source, but SQ is good-to-excellent varying by track. Quiet pressing. I

MHO the ballads are noticeably improved vs. the CD, w/acoustic guitars especially full-bodied & lead vocals popping off a black background, but dynamics on piano, horns & blockbusters(e.g. Church) ...I was hoping for more wham & texture.

Overall:  Music: 10/10     Sound: 8.5/10

@slaw no issues w/ side 3.

@6t5-gto I'll spin some Bill Evans for ya in Round Rock. See PMs I sent you yesterday

@slaw

I didn't have confidence that Thin Lizzy was AAA

Exactly. I asked myself "WW@SD?"  What Would @slaw Do?

@slaw @tomic601 hopefully, getting time to US clean my VMP Joshua Judges Ruth today and give it a listen.

For next VMP, I passed on Thin Lizzy and went with this:

Lady Blackbird - Black Acid Soul

JJ Cale - Troubadour

Let's call it @tomic601 happy hour

remastered LP2 definitely crushes the original on LP1, looking forward to the demos on LP3

@slaw

Your post reminded me that I need to clean my Philly Sound VMP box.

Yeah, I dreamed about the VMP set, but made a "responsible" dumb decision to hold off and get a cheap alternative. The SQ is weak on Golden Gate. Now VMP is sold out...I'm on the notify list and recently joined to get Joshua Judges Ruth. (cleaning pending)

After recommendation from @tomic601 & Fremer’s first new Tracking Angle channel vid, had to stream some holes in my collection:

Eric Burdon - Soul of a Man

Small Faces - Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake

John Renbourn - Sir John Alot of Merrie Englandes... (lovely, peaceful instrumentals)

McGuiness Flint

Finished last night spinning "Golden Gate Groove" - TSOP Live in San Fran. Ojays, Billy Paul, 3 Degrees and more ridin’ the Love Train

@6t5-gto congrats, lovely table and fantastic cartridge!

@mammothguy54 Joel, the "Buildings/Food" remaster is worthwhile IMHO

@slaw oh brother, another pricey one to the wishlist! Thanks, Steve

This one is great tunes but tiny "mix in a box"
