Awesome record. |

|
@bkeske Go for it. I have Dynaco smooth plates in a Croft. |
Keely Smith – Swingin’ Pretty (Capitol 1959)
Not her best recording. Vocals are a bit further back in a sometimes busy mix. |
He accepted -$35 I see what you did there. ... Anyhow, they have the Telefunken diamond between pins molded in glass. |
Sure. They are Telefunkens just rebranded for Dynaco. I pulled mine from a Dyna tuner years ago and they're still going strong. |
Although, I see they’ve got really expensive now. I bought other Dynaco/Teles for $40 a pair years ago. |
The Dukes Of Dixieland – Now Hear This (Colombia Six-eye 1962)
Smooth jazz with he supreme clarity of this era. |
@bkeske You knocked $200 off the deal? Holy moly, man!

Still sounds fresh. Solid. |
@boxer12 streaming Gipsy Freedom by The Vanishing Voice and Wooden Wand. Well, that was unexpected. Interesting. Not at all like JJT on his own. |

|
Matthew Barber & Jill Barber – The Family Album (Outside Music 2016)
|
|
Joe Williams And Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, The Jazz Orchestra – Presenting.. S/T (Solid State 1968)
Joe’s got a voice not unlike Sinatra but with more bass. Gem.
Interestingly, they use "solid state equipment throughout" (and Tele U-47 mics.) You can tell. Tight and fast and somewhat dry with some grain. No depth with a flat wall of sound. |
Thomas Dolby – Aliens Ate My Buick (EMI-Manhattan 1988)
So I generally play this on the Spendors/REL S3 rig. So tonight I heard so much more from this album on the main ESL system. Blown away. |
Bob Wilber & Kenny Davern – Soprano Summit (World Jazz 1975)
|

Peggy Lee – Is That All There Is? (Capitol 1969)
|
Crispian Steele-Perkins, Gerald Gifford – The Proud Trumpet (Musical Heritage Society – 1981)
Sometimes you just need a trumpet with a church organ in a church. |
Melanie – Gather Me (Buddah 1971)
Seriously great songs. Had a bunch of her albums from back in the day. Met her once. If interested, play side 2.
|
I have killer insurance but our cost share is about 10% That sucks. We need universal healthcare. Hope you heal soon. @tomic601 |

|
Johnny & Jonie Mosby – Hold Me (Capitol 1969)
Awesome country pop. Clean, clear and energetic.
|
I.D. Stamper – Red Wing (June Appal 1977)
Appalachian folk. Pretty hard-core Kentucky hammered dulcimer blues. Good recording but it's not hi-fi. Love it.
|
R. Strauss, J. Strauss, Charles Gerhardt, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – Il Cavaliere Della Rosa, Il Pipistrello, Lo Zingaro Barone (RCA 1976)
|
Tony Duster Bennett - Justa Duster ( Blue Horizon 1969)
More like it. A thousand times better. Studio + live sides. Tragically killed in 1976 at 30 in a crash. Recommended if you like it rough and drunk.
"saw him playing as a one-man band, playing a bass drum with his foot and blowing a harmonica on a rack while strumming a 1952 Les Paul Goldtop guitar given to him in 1968 by Peter Green."
|
|
Jeff Beck – Blow By Blow (Epic 1975)
Odd one to start off a Sunday morning. Such a mixed bag musically, it's intriguing. |
It fizzled away and was no big deal.
Mixed reviews on the NY & CH. SQ weak and no live banter?

Gotcha.
Itzhak Perlman, André Previn – The Easy Winners And Other Rag-Time Music Of Scott Joplin (Angel 1975)
|
@bkeske Telefunken’s are just dead quiet. Hard to believe they can not make newer tubes ‘in mass’ with the same properties. For me, the next step up from the Teles are Grant Fidelity’s Shuguang black 12AX7LS. Silent and even better in every respect. They do take at least 20 hours to open up though. They work best in the first phono gain stage. |
