The girl can sing. |
Kid Thomas Valentine And His Creole Jazz Band – Kid Thomas (Arhoolie 1961)
|
@gardners501 +1 Getz Au Go Go Last time I remember playing this, it sounded like the recording mics were a little overloaded. Did you notice that? I’ll try it again. |
Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band – Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band (Good Time Jazz 1955 mono)
|
Lu Watters And The Yerba Buena Jazz Band – Blues Over Bodega (Fantasy 1964)
Switching to the 9" arm with the Decca Garrott Bros Gold tonight. Well, this rocks. |
Turk Murphy And His Jazz Band – At The Roundtable (Forum 1959 mono)
Entertaining and historic. Magic female vocalist version of the Jimmy Cox classic, Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out. Solid recording. Makes me smile. |
Ian & Sylvia – Ian & Sylvia (Vanguard 1962)
First LRS buy in 16 months and wouldn’t you know, it’s a bit noisy. Two long cleans in the US helped. Sticking with discogs in future.

Clive Gregson & Christine Collister – Mischief (Special Delivery 1987)
|
Tom Russell – Heart On A Sleeve (End Of The Trail 1984)
|
@mammothguy54 Yeah, Bob Ezrin did a good job in that Alice Cooper collaboration. Some innovative and introspective tracks. The album copy is the same one we played when we were teenagers so it’s seen it’s share of old stylii. The MoFi copy is on the cards, for old time’s sake! Thanks for the heads-up. |
The Mike + Ruthy Band – Bright As You Can (Humble Abode Music 2015) Sides 3-4 |
@bkeske Interested in how the LO sounds with FET vs HO direct. Use same headshell for comparison.
|
@bkeske Brian, I have to ask due to inate curiosity. You've a bunch of album pics there with a lot of ring wear on the covers. Look like a Good/Good+. What's up with that?
|
Franz Danzi - New York Woodwind Quintet – 3 Woodwind Quintets (Nonesuch 1966) |
Randy Newman – Little Criminals (Warner Bros. 1977)
|
Santo & Johnny – On The Road Again (Imperial 1968)
|
Florian Zabach – 'Till The End Of Time (Mercury 1958 mono) |
@slaw @bkeske Indeed. It is so you can directly compare both the high and low devices using the same components. Once you change another component, you will not get the full 360. Are you using ebony or cherry (is that what they use)? |
Alfred Cortot, Liszt - Sonata In B Minor, Chopin - Sonata No. 3 In B Minor (Seraphim 1975)
|
Peggy Lee – Dream Street (Decca 1957 mono)
In. The. Room. |
Al Stewart – Past, Present & Future (CBS 1973)
Sounded great until the last minute of Nostrodamus when it got somewhat congested. IGD? Anyone else experience that with this? |
Eddie Heywood – One For My Baby (Mercury 1960) |
Roy Harper – Born In Captivity (Hard Up 1984)
|
@bkeske Sounds like kennyosrecods!
|
LOL! Yup. Been there. Guess it's a LRS or he uses multiple online stores with no inventory control. Not the greatest seller but I have got some decent stuff from him. |
Good idea @flennon
Steeleye Span – Parcel Of Rogues (Chrysalis 1973)
Steeleye Span – The Steeleye Span Story Original Masters (Chrysalis 1977) Sides 1 and 4 |

Miss those days, and frankly miss those feels.
but the angst/violence still channeled thru me like I was 19!
|
Van Morrison – Tupelo Honey (Warner Bros. 1971)
|
From earlier when I changed the platter on the 401 to the new Precision Audio Components aluminium platter. It weighs an additional 0.6 pounds over the older PAC and 1.7 pounds more than the original, mostly centered around the spindle. Sounds faster, deeper soundstage with better decay. (More etched...jury is stalling out back with a smoke on this one)
Count Basie – Basie Jam #2 (Pablo 1977)
Doc Evans / Knocky Parker / Albert Nicholas / Earl Murphy / Gene Juckem – Reminiscing In Dixieland, Stomps And Blues Vol. 2 (Audiophile 1959)
10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe (Elektra 1986) |
Van Morrison – A Sense Of Wonder (Mercury 1984)
|
@boxer12 I bought it for another 401 as there was a sale at CTC. Turns out it had a note in the box from Ray Clarke pointing out the update so I installed it on the primary. |
Joni Mitchell – Shadows And Light (Asylum 1980)
Great live album. |
Leonard Cohen – Ten New Songs (Columbia 2001)
|
@slaw not so much as the mass is centrifugal at the periphery but the boss around the spindle has gone from about an inch to about 2.5 inches. |
It weighs an additional 0.6 pounds over the older PAC and 1.7 pounds more than the original Correction. Should read: It weighs an (approx) additional 1 pound over the older PAC and 2.1 pounds more than the original. |
+1 Beth Orton. She sang Sisters of Mercy on a Leonard Cohen bio movie called I'm Your Man. |
@j_husker A relative is giving me 4 totes of records on Sunday. I have no idea what they could be. No clue. So that should be interesting. Not expecting anything but you never know.
|
Been traveling on vacation and missing playing records. Checking in and nice to see y'all hanging. Now we have a hurricane coming. 🌀 |
Thanks @slaw Surrounded by big trees so storms are always a worry. Fingers crossed! Hopefully the noise of the USonic on overtime will be a distraction. |
