Leonard Cohen – Ten New Songs (Columbia 2018 RE [2001])
Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint – The River In Reverse (Verve Forecast 2006)
The Doobie Brothers – Toulouse Street (Warner Bros. 1972)
Sounded crap. Few skips. Realized this was filthy. 20 mins in US. Transformed. Wow. Went from Good+ to NM. Sounds great.
Daniel Martin Moore – Turned Over To Dreams (Sofaburn 2017) side1
Yehudi Menuhin/Wilhelm Furtwängler, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra, Brahms, Beethoven – Brahms: Violin Concerto / Beethoven: Romance No. 2 In F, Op. 50 (Seraphim 1972)
Dvořák, Witold Rowicki, London Symphony Orchestra – Symphony No. 3 / "Hussite" Overture (Philips 1972)
That's an edge of the seat symphony. Super.
Allegri / Mundy / Palestrina, The Tallis Scholars – Miserere / Vox Patris Caelestis / Missa Papae Marcelli (Classics For Pleasure 1980)
The Miserere is mind-blowing. I heard this performed twice in old churches.
@bkeske Nice clean recording. Literally sounds like Telefunken tubes! Started off musically a little "Austrian" but halfway through one side loosened and warmed up and was enjoyable.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Alban Berg Quartett – Streichquartette String Quartets Nr.14, KV 387 & Nr.15, KV 421 (Telefunken 1977)
Country Joe And The Fish – Together (Vanguard 1968)
Lu Watters And The Yerba Buena Jazz Band – Blues Over Bodega (Fantasy 1964)
Lordy. It doesn't get much better than this musically.
Fast Folk Musical Magazine - Second Annual Greenwich Village Folk Festival (Mountain Railroad 1989)
Eclectic selection of live cuts from the festival. Great SQ. Some gems. |
LOL @tomic601 Hope you dig! |
Yeah, something truly honest about folk music. I love the way it differs across continents but remains intrinsically the same. |
The Coterie – A Swing To Folk (Emerald Gem 1969 mono)
Four young women singing in plaintive harmonies. Cute and excellent vocals. Rare and expensive copy. |
Thomas Jefferson – Dreaming Down The River To New Orleans (Southland 1962)
This is what they gonna play at my last rest. Blues For Paul. Mesmerizing.
Fast Folk Musical Magazine: Live At The Bottom Line 89 (Fast Folk Musical Magazine 1990)
Little Charlie And The Nightcats – Disturbing The Peace (Alligator 1988)
Monte Ballou And His New Castle Jazz Band – They're Moving Willie's Grave To Dig A Sewer (G.H.B. 1986)

Frank Zappa – Joe's Garage Acts II & III (Zappa 1979)
Sadao Watanabe – Bird Of Paradise (Inner City 1980)
Lonnie Johnson – Blues By Lonnie Johnson (Prestige Bluesville 1960)
Raw blues. |
Scott Hamilton And Warren Vaché – With Scott's Band In New York City (Concord Jazz 1978)
Seimens tend to be like the Teles but without the soul.
Barbara Carroll Trio – We Just Couldn't Say Goodbye (RCA Victor 1956 mono)
The detail of the tinkling piano is a revelation. You'll never hear that in digital anything.
B. You have got to get Telefunkens in there if you want to hear clean, transparent awesomeness. I would not do older Mullards in that amp. |
The Golden Earring – Eight Miles High (Major Minor 1970)
The American Jazz Ensemble – New Dimensions (Epic 1962)
Maria McKee - S/T (Geffen Records 1989)
Decent music. This was the Diana Krall audiophile record of its day. I bought it. It isn't. |
Alan Jay Lerner, Frederick Loewe / Julie Andrews, Richard Burton – Camelot, Original Broadway Cast Recording (Columbia Masterworks 1960)
The Doobie Brothers – Toulouse Street (Warner Bros. 1972)
What a great album. Haven't played it in 35 years. |
B. Sure you can mix makes. As it's phono, you've got to be a little careful of gain asymmetry but TBH, if it sounds better and awesome, who cares? On the pairs front: if you weren't enamored with the all 4 swap, you may be missing out on improvements with them in other positions.
@bkeske Try 3 then 4 under your SOTA first. Use # springs in each pod to level table. Because it’s suspended, I’m not sure how it will fare compared to 60 pound slate idler! Also try under Trumpet using one spring per pod. They can also use under speakers.
Dear Lord. Do not get new ones. Must be originals! Hint... look for Dynaco/Fisher pulls made by Telefunken. Cheaper.
Buck Clayton & Buddy Tate – Kansas City Nights (Prestige 1974)
Ha, Brian, I'm like a kid! Been a busy day playing lots of stuff so I'm adding them in now.
@bkeske How are the tubes? I'd recommend rolling them in pairs.
The EAR had plenty of soul to begin with. Absolutely. I have a TdP amp and it’s brilliant (but in need of repair) |
@spiritofradio I guess it's the production. It's somewhat fussy and dense as was noted in reviews at the time. Musically and lyrically, it's not going to change the world but it's pleasant enough.

Ytre Suløens Jass-Ensemble, Barbara Ann Shorts – A Stone For Bessie Smith (Kirkelig Kulturverksted 1978)
+1 Joel.
Though I will be playing some vinyl tomorrow, my heart is with the people of Ukraine
RIP Jim Steinman. (Then there's Ted Nugent. Karma.)
Eddie Vinson – Mr. Cleanhead Steps Out (Saxophonograph 1985 mono)

Joyce Collins Quartet Featuring Jack Sheldon, Chuck Domanico And Jim Plank – Moment To Moment (Discovery 1981)
Worth checking out. Excellent music and recording.
@tomic601 Glad you like it.
I don't have the Newport NY gig but I do have a few Jay McShann who plays on it. I see the MoFi goes for $250. I'd never pay that! |
Peter Green – Little Dreamer (PVK 1980).
My favorite Greenbaum album. Played to death and still NM- |
Mathilde Santing – Water Under The Bridge (WEA 1985)
Bought this when it came out. Mostly sparse female vocals. Grows on you. |
Jay McShann Featuring Claude Williams – The Man From Muskogee (Sackville Recordings 1973)
Almost classical in parts with the accompanying violin. Wonderful.
