Shakti with John McLaughlin - Natural Elements. Columbia 1977

Nice morning music

Dzhemal Dalgat conducts Franck - Psyché: A Symphonic Poem & Prokofiev - Sinfonietta In A Major, Op. 5/48 (3rd Edition). Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra. ABC Westminster Gold 1974

Freddie Hubbard - Reevaluation: The Impulse Years. ABC/Impulse 2 LP gatefold 1973
McCoy Tyner - Time for Tyner. Blue Note reissue/remaster 1986, originally 1969
John Mayall - The Last Of The British Blues. ABC Records 1978

Was at parts of this live recording at a club in Cincinnati while in college. Want to say the club was Bogarts IIRC. Not sure which ones, as it was recorded in three cities total. Had a lot of fun, and wasn’t expecting a hard blues-rocking crazy man John. But that’s what we got.
Neil Young - Neil Young. Reprise 1970

Dang, I’ve played this a million times, but it sure does sound incredible, again, tonight.
@noromance

@B. In the recording. I’d know that voice anywhere!

lol, I doubt I was carrying on too much. I was a cool laid back long hair hippy 😉 probably smiling a lot.

I remember I took my wonderful and beautiful hippy girlfriend and she was probably as surprised. She would sit around my place while I played Empty Room, USA Union, Back to the Roots, and the like. She enjoyed it a lot too IIRC.
Back to my Sibelius set before the Browns game today.....

Sir Colin Davis conducts Sibelius - The Seven Symphonies. Boston Symphony Orchestra. 5 LP box set. Philips Italian pressing. Unknown release date, but per label, probably late 70’s.

Picking back up at Symphony #3....

@slaw

Thanks man, it’s been a while. I’m old enough to have watched Jim Brown run for the Browns. Through all the good and bad years, I’m still a rabid fan, regardless. Much like most all Browns fans. It’s been a tough road these last 18-20 years. But hey, we got our team back, with their name and colors. No other city who lost a team can say that.....except the Rams just recently, who were originally the Cleveland team 😁

Boulez conducts Boulez - Les Soleil Des Eaux. Dorati conducts Koechlin - Les Bandar-Log, Op. 176 & Messiaen - Chronochromie For Orchestra. BBC Symphony Orchestra w/BBC Symphony Chorus. Angel 1965

Szell conducts Dvorak - The Slavic Dances. The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia 2 LP box set. 2 eye label, I believe from 1965.
Eero Bister conducts Uuno Klami - Concerto For Violin And Orchestra & Sea Pictures. Kouvola City Orchestra. Finlandia Records, Finland, 1983.

Enjoyable LP
Just got this in the mail today. Bought it on eBay from an Agoner @elliottbnewcombjr

Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark. Asylum, I think 1974, but not confirmed, yet.
Nice job by Elliott, very very nice copy.

Elliott’s eBay member name - uncle.wins.music-1
@elliottbnewcombjr

Thanks Elliott, getting ready to spin the Richie Havens a bit later.

No problem on the shipping, I was expecting slower than normal.
Really like the Joni a lot. Thanks again 👍🏼
My other album from Elliott which arrived today....

Richie Havens - Something Else Again. MGM Records, reissue 1970, originally 1967.
@mammothguy54

Yea, thanks. I should have been working, but when it arrived, I had to play it. Trying to find out exactly when this copy was released via Discogs, but there are some oddities on my label and run-out that just don’t Mach-up with the others listed thus far. It does have the raised lettering, and per the label number, I do think it’s a 1974 copy. The 1976 reissues (and others with the same catalog number) had a different label entirely.

It sounds fantastic, yes a bit of surface noise, but I can deal with some of that. I only have Joni otherwise on a European box set of all her studio albums up until the late 70’s. Great set, and I enjoy it a lot, but man, listening to this on vinyl is incredible. As always, just ‘sounds right’. I’m trying to find those others on vinyl as well as I can.
Cool Steve, that would be the original release. All the 1967 releases were on Verve.

love Richie, love his sound.
Arlo Guthrie - Hobo’s Lullabye. Reprise 1972

Checking out some new speaker cables that just arrived today, and a ten foot IC as I moved the Belles amp on the floor between the Vandy’s to keep length down. Wow, these are nice. Custom made bi-wire speaker cable from 1950’s NOS 10GA Western Electric wire. The IC from NOS 1940’s Western Electric wire. Great deal and sound from these. Very pleased thus far.
@slaw

Steve, yes, from doing some research, many also prefer the new Duelund wire over (some of) the old Western Electric, but, I dunno, I tend to be a purist 😁 and wanted the real thing.

The Western Electric WE16GA was what became the ‘legendary’ wire for audiophile use, questioned the guy who made mine about that, and he assured me, having used/listened to both, (and others), the 50’s 10GA wire was as good if not better. That WE16GA wire is about extinct now, and costs a ‘fortune’ when you find any.

I’m pleased thus far, got some ‘burning in’ to do, but he said the speaker wire only needs about 20 hours. The smaller gauge 1940’s wire used for the IC’s varies.
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly. WB reissue 1983 (1982).

My ‘go to’ album anytime I make a substantial change to the rig.

Just came in the mail today. Very nice copy.

Benjamin Britten conducts Britten - War Requiem. The London Symphony Orchestra and The Milos Ensemble with The Bach Choir and The Highgate School for Boys Choir. London 2LP box set 1963 Stereo.

Just snagged a couple Richard and Linda Thompson LP’s, as a set, on eBay; Pour Down Like Silver and Shoot Out The Lights.

Also snagged-up a reissue of Fairport Conventions self titled LP earlier today. I believe it’s from 1975. Originally 1969.

Looking forward to getting those on the SOTA.
Nikolaus Harnoncourt conducts Bach - Violin Concertos on Original Instruments; Konzert Für Zwei Violinen D-moll, BWV 1043, Violinkonzert E-dur, BWV 1042, and Violinkonzert A-moll, BWV 1041. Concentus Musicus Wien. Telefunken, German pressing. Unknown exact release date, 1977-81.
Martinů - String Quartet #5, Janáček Quartet & String Quartet #7, Vlach Quartet. Supraphon 1980 Czechoslovakia
Vittorio Negri Bryks conducts Albinoni - Concerti A Cinque, Op.9, Concerti Nos.1, 4, 7 & 10 For Solo Violin. Italian Baroque Ensemble with Cesare Ferraresi, violin. Dover 1964

Not the greatest SQ, but nice works.
Vivaldi - The Four Seasons. English Chamber Orchestra with Henryk Szeryng conductor and violin. Philips reissue, Netherlands pressing. Unknown release date.

Never really play this, always skip by it, but it is an excellent recording and pressing.
@slaw

Pour Down Like Silver is my favorite RT lp. I have the Hannibal pressing.

Is that a reissue UK release from the 80’s? Mine is the earlier Island release, although the Shoot Out the Lights copy is Hannibal.

Listening to Rumor and Sigh right now....on cassette 😉
Velvet Underground with Nico - S/T ‘banana’. Verve, unknown exact release date for this copy, but pretty sure mid-70’s.
I think the originals were all Island (at least per what is documented on Discogs, even the UK releases), which might make sense as many Fairport releases were Island.
Nope, they had an aqua blue circle surround the label which morphed into a palm tree.
The Butterfield Blues Band - Sometimes I Just Feel Like Smilin'. Elektra 1971

Boulez conducts Schoenberg - A Survivor From Warsaw, Op. 46 / Variations For Orchestra, Op. 31 / Five Pieces For Orchestra, Op. 16 / Accompaniment To A Cinematographic Scene, Op. 34. BBC Symphony Orchestra. CBS Masterworks 1978
