|
Dawn Of The Century Ragtime Orchestra – Silks And Rags (Arcane 1972)

@bkeske Just caught wind of your big tweak. Congrats on the 🔔s. Thought you might have gone the tube route but agree the Signature is probably best with your amp.
|
@bkeske Hey, at least you won't have to worry about rolling tubes!

Josh White – Sings Ballads - Blues (Elektra 1957)

The Lennon Sisters – Our Favorite Songs (Pickwick/33 1965)
Delicious vocals and recording. Play this at a show and silence the Krall bores. |
Billy Vera & Judy Clay – Storybook Children (Atlantic 1968)
Reviewed by Billy Vera on Amazon! "A great album by this ground-breaking duo. Judy Clay of the Drinkard Singers gospel group and hit songwriter Billy Vera made history when they appeared at Harlem's Apollo Theatre in 1968, one month after the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King. Yet they played to standing ovations as the first racially integrated duo to ever sing love songs." |
Muggsy Spanier - S/T (Everest Records Archive Of Folk & Jazz Music 1968)
|
Hank Locklin – Bummin' Around (RCA Camden 1965)
Classic country. Crystal clear recording. |
Alun Davies – Daydo (Columbia 1972)
Co-conspirator of Cat Stevens and it sounds it. Average recording. I'll try it on the other arm another time. Side 1. |

|
Gare Du Nord - Rendezvous 8:02 (Columbia 2018) |
Gale Garnett – Lovin’ Place (RCA Victor 1965)
Man, that’s a hot recording. Probably one of the loudest records per volume level setting I have. Solid performance.
|
@bkeske Must dig that out. It's been too long. Funny that you were there. I thought I heard you hollering. |
Sara Grey With Ed Trickett - S/T (Folk-Legacy 1970)
OK. You sit over in that channel, Sara, and I'll sit over in this one. We'll add in some post-echo too. Lovely.
|
@spiritofradio I guess so. I'm just not a huge fan of vibes or flute in jazz which is why I've not played this much. Tonight was an eye-opener and I enjoyed the music. Minty condition helped. |
Pam Garner – Pam Garner Sings Quietly (Coral 1958)
At the other end of the spectrum, this one's a lot quieter. Definitely a bunch of rows back. Gave it a bump. Better but noise floor is lifted too. Great voice. Shame it's not more in yo face!
|
Duster Bennett – Justa Duster (Blue Horizon 1969)
Oddball one-man-band. English blues. One side is live. Pal of John Mayall. Tragically killed in a car crash in 1976. Love this album. |
@B I hear you. They were the days. I'd give anything to be back with the patchouli longhair chicks! |
@B. In the recording. I’d know that voice anywhere!
|
Morgana King – More Morgana (Ascot 1966)
Awesome. Light and airy recording. I'd have to recommend it.
|
Maggie Bell – Queen Of The Night (Atlantic 1974)
Scotland's answer to Janis Joplin. Except she stayed away from the Chelsea Hotel. |
@slaw Curious what you think of the Maggie Bell?
