Re: Terry Allen

I really like Bloodlines. I think this theme album has brilliant lyrics and Terry’s vocals are great. He reminds me of a mix of Leon Russell and Steve Earle. Unfortunately, my copy is very noisy.

Smokin the Dummy is a great lp as well. Lot of Leon’s influence here again IMO. A lot more country leaning on side one though it has the New Orleans jazz influence on side two.

The above mentioned Steppenwolf lp is Highy Recommended if you can find one

Highly recommended!

I have the latest Alone Together Again and enjoy it. My best sounding copy is the MCA 200gm heavyweight vinyl series edition from the early 90s.

No doubt my Ushers love the Quicksilvers.

I mean I've been comparing my record weights with very descernable results.

Puttin’ on my just US cleaned copy of,

The Young Rascals "Groovin’" MFSL/45rpm/mono

I wanted to be very fair to this album as I’ve heard very different impressions of this lp so far. So, I put fresh water in the Vibrato. After a 25 min clean, there is lots of noticeable "skim or scale’ floating in the water. Anyone who says there’s no need to clean a new lp is just wrong.

Lp 1, side one, seems very flat, slight surface noise on the first track of the mostly blank side one. Two short songs! SQ really good so far. Nice depth and seeming spaciousness for a mono record. No hint of brightness or etch.

Side 2, Really sounding very, very good. I would bet it sounds better than a mint original? The clarity is somewhat stunning. Keep wishing the bass/drums were more prominent.

Lp 2, side one. This lp isn’t as flat. Both lps are centered nicely. So far the only product complaint is the not perfectly quiet vinyl.

Should mention I'm listening through my stereo Sussurro w/ mono button on phono pre.

Finishing up with my thoughts on on "Groovin’"....

Side, four. The bass that I wished for previously, is now present. It makes for a more complete listening experience. Throughout this entire lp, I never turned the volume over 12:00, which is high these days But not out of line for a MFSL lp.

Side 4 is the superior sounding side. Next time I’ll do a deep steam before listening It’s a keeper.

I need to say that for a $60 lp, there should not be any quality issue at all!!!

Currently finding my Southerland Timeline my favorite all-round weight for SQ tonight.

Favoring upper midrange prescence..

Thanks for your reply Jim. I’ve owned them for two years. Finally set them up.

@boxer12 ,

Hey Tim, I haven't hooked the Audia Flight up yet. Just got in a cable I needed and haven't set aside the time.
