+1 Nick I agree. I saw him play many times over the years, through good and not so good phases of his life and career, and he always played with such appeal and, well, joy. Some of his style - playing chords up high on the neck - was also really innovative for the time. Absolutely love the feeling of his solos. “Baby Please” on that record, for example, is right up there with any song that opens with a guitar solo. The thing is: That album has some most excellent songwriting. Inside your rooms, behind your walls I see your face You know I hear your call Is this some madness that’s been left unchecked Or will there always be just promises? Running in the wilderness and dreaming in the sun And cryin’ to the sky at night for God’s eternal son There are men that hold the key To set everybody free But they are lonely ones And if the day should come When they all can work as one There’ll be a destiny Yes, I know Running in the wilderness and dreaming in the sun Cryin’ to the sky at night for God’s eternal son Yeah, yeah... |
I didn’t start buying records and cassettes until 1972 because I had to use “my own money” . Parents objected to my music. I still have every record I ever bought except for a few on long term loan to my little brother. They’re in surprisingly great shape except for a few that made the rounds in college dorms. Those have duplicates. I always used a Discwasher and the fluid that came with it. I think it worked pretty well. I inherit junky vinyl sometimes and it usually goes to neighbors garage sales. I love my records. As often said, I have many good memories associated with my records and tapes. |
Traveling in heavy rotation (on the iEMs): Danish String Quartet Last Leaf This is an album of breathtaking music. Unique. To say it crosses boundaries is only the beginning of a description. It’s interesting that the early music of Scandinavia has more in common with the music of Scotland than with with the music of continental Europe. This record sounds like ECM, is classical in format and form, and folk in character. Steve, thanks for the pointer Dar Williams. I love her early stuff but have not kept up. Just saw she’s coming through the PNW soon too. Will def check it out. Also I’m downloading Mount Moriah and McIntire for the plane ride home this afternoon. I tried MM awhile back on your recommendation but need to give another listen. |
Keith Jarrett / Gary Peacock / Jack DeJohnette Yesterdays 2009 ECM (Germany) Who am I kidding. These guys are the best! |
Marcin Wasilewski Trio Live 2018 ECM (Germany) ********************************** +1 on Randall Bramblett @tomic601 . I got his latest, Pine Needle Fire, on record which is very good but I especially like his work on the following record: Roger Glover And The Guilty Party Featuring Randall Bramblett ”Snapshot” 2002 Eagle Records (?) Yes, that Roger Glover. As you probably know he’s a well known and admired session producer in addition to being the bass player for your favorite junior high boy’s band. Anyway, if you like Trigger Hippy and stuff like that you will love this album. In my heavy rotation latey (CD and casette only, unfortunately….). Album also features Warren Haynes. Need I say more? |
"Bark Psychosis / Dust sucker"?? Just stick around, Boxer12 will come through for you. I think this is way cool. |
