That would have been quite a lineup in their heyday. I would have gone to that one with you.

Winona Ryder’s appearance down front left side parted the mosh pit like the Red Sea…
+1 Tom.  Thanks again for turning us on to Patto.  I’ve concluded that they must have taught a thing or two to Donald Fagan.
Hey Steve, Hey Brian, Hey Nick.
It was a long week here too.  Grey’s Anatomy away so it’s loud and gritty here.
@mammothguy54

Saturday night will be a big "hoorah" for playing vinyl.

Let’s make it a good one.
David Gilmour
Live At Pompeii

Wow.  This is so alive.  Amazing detail for a live record.  Pretty good tone.  Human.  Real.
@tomic601 i had an amp messed up once just from the room being painted.  Holding good thoughts.
+1 Nick I agree. I saw him play many times over the years, through good and not so good phases of his life and career, and he always played with such appeal and, well, joy. Some of his style - playing chords up high on the neck - was also really innovative for the time. Absolutely love the feeling of his solos. “Baby Please” on that record, for example, is right up there with any song that opens with a guitar solo.

The thing is: That album has some most excellent songwriting.

Inside your rooms, behind your walls
I see your face
You know I hear your call
Is this some madness that’s been left unchecked
Or will there always be just promises?

Running in the wilderness and dreaming in the sun
And cryin’ to the sky at night for God’s eternal son

There are men that hold the key
To set everybody free
But they are lonely ones
And if the day should come
When they all can work as one
There’ll be a destiny
Yes, I know

Running in the wilderness and dreaming in the sun
Cryin’ to the sky at night for God’s eternal son
Yeah, yeah...
I want to add that I have my parents’ and grandparent’s (33s and 78s) records.  There aren’t that many and they’re frankly pretty bad (“Music for Dining” and that kind of stuff) but the covers are nostalgic.  I was fascinated by them as a kid.
I didn’t start buying records and cassettes  until 1972 because I had to use “my own money” .  Parents objected to my music.  I still have every record I ever bought except for a few on long term loan to my little brother.   They’re in surprisingly great shape except for a few that made the rounds in college dorms.  Those have duplicates.   I always used a Discwasher and the fluid that came with it.    I think it worked pretty well.
I inherit junky vinyl sometimes and it usually goes to neighbors garage sales.
I love my records.  As often said, I have many good memories associated with my records and tapes.

@big_greg, +1 on both the success with speakers and the music choice.  Love that record.
@sourpuss123. That’s funny. I’ve done that myself playing albums through the DAC.
Nice Greg.  I understand the thiel will need a lot of power.  Interested in your assessment.

in heavy rotation (on the iEMs):

Danish String Quartet
Last Leaf

This is an album of breathtaking music.  Unique. To say it crosses boundaries is only the beginning of a description.
It’s interesting that the early music of Scandinavia has more in common with the music of Scotland than with with the music of continental Europe.

This record sounds like ECM, is classical in format and form, and folk in character.
Steve, thanks for the pointer Dar Williams.  I love her early stuff but have not kept up.  Just saw she’s coming through the PNW soon too.   Will def check it out.  Also I’m downloading Mount Moriah and McIntire for the plane ride home this afternoon.  I tried MM awhile back on your recommendation but need to give another listen.
Exhausted after the 5th day of working over a warehouse and office building.  Love the posts guys.
Thanks for the response on the Dylan box Steve.   Sounds worthwhile.
Hey Kevin.
@mammothguy54, sorry to hear that about your sister Joel.  That’s rough.  I hope you can find a way and she will let you help.
@tgilb,

Valerie June  - The Moon and Stars

A lot of love for her around here.   Saw her in concert just before the lockdown. The whole place on our feet crowding down close to the stage.
@noromance

When the opera singer hits E over high C and it sounds clean and free.

subtleties then

Thanks

Re: Dylan

Been thinking of filling in gaps in my Dylan section by purchasing a box set.  Does anyone that has or has heard the records in the big white mono box have any comment on SQ?  Thanks

@noromance

This is how you know your Decca is tracking perfectly. Super.
Please elaborate.  If, when not tracking perfectly, what might you hear?
I mean besides the obvious like jumps or ghost traces from an adjacent groove.  Thanks.

+1 on Randall Bramblett @tomic601 .   I got his latest, Pine Needle Fire, on record which is very good but I especially like his work on the following record:

Roger Glover And The Guilty Party Featuring Randall Bramblett ‎”Snapshot”
2002 Eagle Records (?)

Yes, that Roger Glover.  As you probably know he’s a well known and admired session producer in addition to being the bass player for your favorite junior high boy’s band.  Anyway, if you like Trigger Hippy and stuff like that you will love this album.   In my heavy rotation latey (CD and casette only, unfortunately….).  Album also features Warren Haynes.  Need I say more?

+1 @boxer12, the depth of your record collection and musical knowledge is staggering.
So, the new Pat Metheny is both different and really good.  Even if you’re not a huge fan, think about checking out the cut “Lodger” on your favorite stream.  It rocks.

I think in his convalescence Jim has maybe become a little confused.  He actually leant that record to me…
"Bark Psychosis / Dust sucker"??

It's a small world after all!

A small world indeed!

I never thought I'd see the day when they might get a mention on an audio forum.

An ex-member of the band is a friend of mine.
I must mention this to him the next I see him

Just stick around, Boxer12 will come through for you.
I think this is way cool.
Thanks for the mini review Steve.  I’ve also been wondering about it and have had similar experiences and frustrations with the Dominoes original.
Sorry to hear about your Mom Steve.  Thoughts and prayers going your way today Bro.  Hope she makes it through and out of there soon.
