Streaming Terry Allen.  This is great.  Like Billy Joe Shaver meets Talking Heads.
Musicianship is most excellent on Presence.   And none of the songs are stolen, far as I know.  My second favorite Zeppelin record after In through the Out Door.
I just meant he’s interested in people’s desert island discs.  That Dave mason record would be one of mine.
I think the SQ on Shoals is better than Ryman (YMMV).  I like Shoals, but remember it’s a little less than half Jason. I also like Alabama and recommended it.

New record (Georgia) on pre-order.

Steve, +1 on “It’s Like You Never Left” My favorite of his. In my top 10 everything. Like Jim says, desert island disc.

In The Echo: Field Recordings From Earlsfort Terrace

Brian,  after we moved back west we lived in Oakland where Yoshi’s (the old joint and the new) drew fantastic players.   We were raising kids and didn’t get there often enough but we were very fortunate with that club close by.  San Francisco was pretty good too….
Steve, I hope you’ll try “In the Echo”.  There are some new authentic folk songs in the Bonny Light Horseman vein scatted among the rest and the recordings are really interesting.

Say, is anyone in touch with Dayglow?  Haven’t heard anything from him in awhile. Hope he’s doing well.
Brian, I lived in The Village during my decade or so in Manhattan and so, well, I too miss my time with those small clubs where we could just drop in most of the time and see big names and drink expensive cocktails. The Blue Note sometimes sold out a show on certain evenings but not usually all three. Mostly, If we had a free evening we could catch somebody legendary in Jazz or blues at a one of a bunch of active clubs within walking distance.   At the same time, The rock scene kinda sucked really. Hardly any small venues featuring rock.  CBGBs wasn’t my style most nights (newwave/punk era). While back in the Northwest there were dozens of small clubs where you could go to rock out.
That club in Columbus sounds like it was nice. I’ve been to some places in Cleveland and Cincinnati but I never made it to Columbus.
If you get the chance check out the sonic wonders on this:

Brian, Yeah, you fellows got my re-interested in Ray Brown which, when I got Soular Energy, gave me a smack of recognition. Gene Harris’s playing made the hair on the back of my neck rise like it was brushed by the smoke rising from the grave of my prior self when I wore out my last days during the late 50’s on the covered stern deck of a big boat spinning jazz into the hot night. Or, maybe I heard him in a hotel bar once.
@J_Husker, what a great set.  Thumbs up to all of ‘em dude.

@mammothguy54, hoping for a good outcome for you tomorrow.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
BTW, I cannot be held accountable for awareness of anything posted on Agon except from this thread. That notwithstanding, I do think I remember bdp mentioning something here about that store moving. Suggest we meet there if / when they have an opening.

I learn so much from you guys.  Really appreciate you.
This (rough mix) is truly fine folk music.
Jim,  Yes, and I’m now realizing that @bdp24 may have already mentioned their move.  Anyway, big sale.  Will be nice to have them closer, especially if they open a listening room(s).
I also caught “Count Me In” the other night.   My first thing to say about it is that it was partially redeemed by Stewart Copeland’s participation in the project.  I mean, as for the rest, they are drummers of course, but with the exception of this solo:

I found them all pretty uninspiring.

This just in:  California gear purveyor moving to Vancouver.  (And so, having a big sale.  Several nice pieces available)
