Mathus/Bird "These 13"
"Well Made Music" in the dead wax |
Can't recall hearing a clarinet in a song of this style @asvjerry .
|
@noromance ,
I played that one (pp) twice in a row a while back and enjoyed it. |
|
Jim,
That’s one thing I need to do at some point. Are you soldering in new ones or using inline RCA resistors to try first.
|
RE: Shuggie Otis
Here Comes Shuggie Otis is a good one!
|
|
|
Tom, you were a bad influence on Jim. |
Fruit Bats "This Gold Past Life"
Yeah, I like um' |
Thanks for the info on Jimbo, Tom. ........................................................
Andrew Bird "Weather Systems" I’ve realized I’m way behind on his output, gonna try and remedy that. ...........................................................
Changed the water in the Vibrato. Always a good feeling..............
(Scratch Andrew Bird until later, he needed a deeper clean.)
Up now Fruit Bats "The Pet Parade" |
Fruit Bats "The Ruminant Band" |
Well, as much as I love Joni, I just wasn't in that mood tonight. However, will be through another clean.
The Notting Hillbillies "Missing...Presumed Having a Good Time" |
I have the Speaker Corners version of that one Brian.
|
The Notting Hillbillies lp is so highly recommended!!! |
All of this Joni! Gonna put on my "Live @ Canterbury House - 1967". From her Archives, 3lp set. @bkeske, This was prior to her studio lps. Wonderful!! considering her early poise, vulnerability and willingness to share her talent. |
Thanks @gsal for your recommendation. I checked it out and ordered it. Beautiful! |
|
Brian,
I know it’s early on, ......
I just haven’t heard the normal "hell yeah" on each and every record so far .
I felt you were too early on in trying tube dampers. Let the Trumpet be itself for 100 hours.
|
Jim,
Good to read your priorities are now in order.
Let's me know your thoughts process is well. |
"The Yes Album" Friday Music 45rpm box
@mammouthguy54 @big_greg you won't be disappointed with this. |
The Flying Burrito Brothers "Burrito Deluxe" Intervention |
BTW, the Rock 7 has been on the sidelines for far too long,...two years? I had the Funk Firm FXR arm rewired with Audio Note silver in a continuous run.
Been waiting for something like this OL motor package to show up. |
Shawn Colvin " A Few Small Repairs" |
Delaney & Bonnie "On Tour...." lp from Speakers Corner
I've wanted this lp for decades. Glad I waited to get this copy. Hope it fulfills. |
|
"Little Criminals" again....side 2 |
The Commitments "Soundtrack" MOV |
@millercarbon,
I have an ongoing thread since I bought the Rock 7. Been so long since I posted to it, can’t remember the title.
Anyway, I’d been disappointed with the Merlin DC power supply. I believe it’s another version that converts AC to DC then back to AC. The motor is an AC unit. Anyway it always ran fast.
If I can get this package set up correctly, I’ll have more control over pitch/speed than just moving the motor. |
|
Thin Lizzy "Jonny The Fox" |
|
I hope they aren't Audio Research rubber dampers. |
|

The Flying Burrito Bros "Burrito Deluxe" Intervention Records Highly Recommended!!! |
Jim,
Next time riding, take a cell phone with you. |
The Byrds "Untitled" pp/freshly US cleaned/what bass! |
Up next is the Calling Cadence lp. I only read about it from the email ad from Elusive Disc. Sounded appealing.
Now dry and out of the Vibrato, the vinyl feels nice but isn’t solid black. sort of a milky black that hasn’t been mixed well.
Side one. Similar to later MFSL pressings with thicker vinyl, you need to turn up the volume to get the correct listening setting on this record. The soundstage, in my room, doesn’t go wider than the outer edge of my speakers. The presentation seems more forward than I’m use to.
Side two. The vinyl is a tiny bit ticky. Could be the lack of a good mix?? haha??
Something is bothering me about how the engineers mixed the album, humm. This record just doesn’t blow me away.
There are a few good songs that oddly remind me of Trigger Hippy vibe....
I wouldn't buy this record now if I had that initial choice back.

Guys,
It's been a while since I compared SD "CBAT" lps. I own the Speakers Corner as well as one or two others. I don't remember the Speakers Corner blowing my socks off. |
@noromance ,
I own that Von Grey lp as well.
