Welcome back Brian, was wondering what might have happened. @bkeske Holding good thoughts for your Mom. Glad she’s ok. ————————

@big_greg thanks, of course, will do. |
Hey Greg. How’s The Eraser sound?

@mammothguy54 do you have this record Joel? It’s got fairly muddy SQ but the songs are really good I think. From a time period that I know you like. |
@david_ten +1
Welcome (back?). often appreciate your posts about gear and stuff. Would be nice to hear about your music more often here on this thread. We try and keep on the high road. |
@reubent Congrats on getting that setup going. I sometimes think about upgrading the digital front end of my system but never get around to it. Besides, I really don’t want to incur Steve’s wrath…. Different priorities I suppose. Hey, listening to Aaron Parks again now and for some reason am put in mind of another contemporary sort of fusion, post fusion, maybe experimental, band, Vels Trio. Not that their music is the same but I believe you and probably @boxer12 Tim would dig it. I have “Yellow Ocre”. It’s more Jan Hammer influenced perhaps than Aaron Parks work. Anyway, thanks for turning us on to Aaron Parks stuff. Really good music. |
@boxer12 Your description is good. Contemporary Jazz. Post Fusion maybe. Before falling asleep to it (a good sign) I heard a number of rock influences too including Mercury Rev and maybe Yellowjackets and bands like that but it’s more of a jazz groove than rock. It doesn’t really need to be categorized though, you know. Good stuff. I am so often impressed with new music like this but I’m so old it rarely gets much traction in my mind and memory. I am resigned to the idea of just enjoying contemporary music in the way we used to tune in to FM radio - Without always owning it or even knowing much about it. There are exceptions that must be collected of course. Plini, Volto!, et.al |
Very much enjoyed your travelogue Joel. I especially liked reading that you liked the sound of LTA equipment. If the LTA amp used was 20 watts it was likely their Ultralinear+ model. The do make a 40-50 watt (depending on tube selection) amp too, their Reference+. Congratulations on your decision and purchase. Very nice.

Thanks Tim!
Punch Brothers The Phosphorescent Blues 2015 Nonesuch
I went on a music cruise with Punch Brothers, and 30-40 other bluegrass bands, the year this album was released. The first Mountain Song At Sea. Incredible musical experience. Bluegrass players agree: Punch Brothers are the best string band there is. I love this record. Also the SQ on this record is fantastic, in case anyone is concerned about that. |
Back from Vacation, first records since being back and they sound wonderful. Beethoven Piano Sonata No.23 in F Minor, Op.57 ”Appassionata” Ikuyo Kamiya, Pianist Piano: Bösendorfer, Imperial RCA (Japan)Direct Mastering 45 RPM
Recorded live from the hall directly to the master disc on February 2nd 1977. This is one of the best solo piano recordings I’ve ever, in my admittedly limited experience, heard. It’s especially beautiful in the difficult lower register.

Streaming now into Campfire IEMs. What a nice little album. I like the instrumentation and the open “hear the room” recording. Eddi’s vocals are recorded a little dry I think but she’s very expressive in a very appealing way. Great to learn about this record. Thanks dudes.

@reubent Don’t mention it. |
@reubent Like the new Taylor Swift reissue, you must play it at 45 rpm, not 33. The switch is that funny retro tech looking thingamabob on the left side of your record player. |
Welcome back @pierce911 Glad you’re feeling better. |
