Curtis Mayfield - Curtis

Roy Hargrove & Mulgrew Miller - In Harmony (RSD Resonesance)

Aretha - Live in Philly '72 (RSD pukey yellow & orange matches the SQ)

Worst RSD list ever 😭. I'll be looking for Norah on 3" vinyl and The Munsters in the $1 bin next year.

Tift Merritt - Tambourine

Frank Zappa - Hot Rats (2016 BG remastered by the master)

John Coltrane - My Favorite Things (ORG/BG/Pallas) yum!

Always inspiration here...time to pick some R&B and RSD titles

Paul Rodgers - The Royal Sessions

+1 Esher Demos, jealous, mine are digital

@slaw Glad it's half price. I was very disappointed in the SQ of their Neko Case "Live @ Austin City Limits". Living in Austin, I was saddened by poor play from the home team! Can't wait to get back to a show there soon sometime.

Dipping into the "Demo jaw-droppers" rack today:

Nina Simone - Pastel Blues (AS 180g)

Applewood Road (Emily Barker, Amber Rubarth, Amy Speace) - S/T

Silver-Garburg Piano Duo - Stravinsky: Petrouchka, Le Sacre Du Printemps

Damn guys, so many good ones on this page alone!

Elliott Smith - From A Basement on a Hill

Paul McCartney - S/T

Pete Townshend & Ronnie Lane - Rough Mix (Classic Records 200g)  Street In The City, a sublime demo cut!  Always leaves 'em 😲

Ahh, a day off...

Robbie Robertson - How to be Clairvoyant

Better Oblivion Community Center (Conor Oberst & Phoebe Bridgers) - S/T

Leonard Cohen - Live In London

Matt Berninger - Serpentine Prison

First Aid Kit – Ruins (Columbia 2018)

@noromance How's the SQ, is it a digital recording? One of my favorite albums on my server.

@slaw  Happy birthday, Steve! With the Rilo/Jenny momentum, it's a good day to remember that you were "Born Secular"

Bodeans - Love and Hope and Sex and Dreams (that covers it, doesn't it?)

@bkeske Richard is fantastic live. Opening for Wilco, he silenced a schmoozing crowd in record time!

@slaw how's the MMJ? I keep hearing Love, Love, Love on inde radio, but nothing else.

Bloomfield/Kooper/Stills - Super Session

Kenny Burrell - Guitar Forms
Brubeck Plays Bernstein / Bernstein Plays Brubeck
@slaw Thanks! I'm on it!

@spiritofradio Pat Sansone and John Stirrat are both in Wilco. The Autumn Defense is their side band, which also includes a fantastic drummer, "G-Wiz" Greg Wieczorek, who's also been in Norah Jones' touring band.
Pat & John are both fantastic singers, providing most of the harmony vocals on Wilco albums. John sings lead on one song from A.M. "It's Just That Simple", a live Wilco show standby. I wish they'd both get lead vocal opportunities with Wilco on a regular basis, but that ain't happening, as Tweedy runs the show.
Nothing against Jeff, I enjoy his solo LPs and loved seeing him tour solo, but Pat and John have wonderful pure sweet voices and they deserve more exposure.
Nels is not only Wilco's lead guitarist, but has done much both solo and in collaborations. He covers many genres from straight jazz, to vintage showtunes and does shows filled with genius improvisations. Great youtube vids of him detailing guitar rigs, creative process, etc. It's a rabbithole ;-)
@slaw

- Tell us about Peter Green "In The Skies"

-  How's the sound quality on Star Crossed? I thought my clear pressing of Golden Hour is one of the better recent major label production jobs (and an amazing album!)

@noromance Jerome is an audiophile. His first one was a kickstarter-driven album that promised AAA production and delivered great sonics.
@pkatsuleas, I agree Wilco "The Album" is far from their best pressing. A Ghost is Born is one awesome LP where they put extra effort into the vinyl version. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Sky Blue Sky, while more typical  polished rock productions also are worth investing in the vinyl.

For the rarer gems:
The Autumn Defense - Circles is must have on vinyl for any Wilco fan. John & Pat's masterpiece with glorious harmonies, lyrics and tone reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby/Nash and Fairport Convention.
Nels Cline & Julian Lage - Rooms, acoustic guitar duo of avangarde jazz that will reward your attention with complex tunes masterfully played with extreme clarity.
Jerome Sabbaugh -The Turn
Jefferson Airplane - After Bathing at Baxters
Rolling Stones -Number 2 (Teldec German reissue 1970)
John Hiatt - Bring The Family
Brian Ferry - The Bride Stripped Bare
The Feminine Complex - Livin' Love  (One of my all-time top RSD releases!)
@spiritofradio
"“AAA”
Chris Bellman,
Bernie Grumman,
QRP Pressing"

a recipe for success!

@big_greg Thanks, Greg. I’ll look for Heartbeat City.

Yeah, I've used allmusic. Not bad, but the crew here is better ;-)

Glad you’re Greg!

Ray Brown & Laurindo Almeida – Moonlight Serenade (Jeton Audiophile Legends Germany 2003) The intertwined 'Round About Midnight + Moonlight Sonata is one of the most brilliant mashups/arrangements I've ever heard. 9.5/10 SQ too. If you find it, buy it!

@bslon Bill, so as the reigning Cars expert, which album should be my third, having just their first two?

Alice Coltrane – Transfiguration

Rimsky-Korsakov*, Reiner*, Chicago Symphony* – Scheherazade, Op. 35
Label:    Classic Records – RCA LSC-2446

Sarah McLachlan – Afterglow (Analogue Productions – 45 RPM, 2014)

@reubent

Reubent is actually Reuben T. (Thomas) Turner. That make her..... Tina Turner! She's a lucky woman!

Mrs. sbank, Marcie's official name is Martha. Her first husband was a Stewart, so she was Martha Stewart. If we get them together, no doubt the paparazzi will be following Tina & Martha all around!

@reubent Very sweet gifts, Tom. Nice job, Mrs. Bent!

Neil Young - Greatest Hits (Classic Records)

Everything But The Girl – Baby, The Stars Shine Bright

Rickie Lee Jones – Pop Pop

Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy
Sea Wolf - Leaves in the River

All Bangles fans owe it to themselves to get the Matthew Sweet & Susannah Hoffs Under The Covers albums. One covers each of 60s, 70s & 80s. Harmony ear candy!
@noromance Murder Ballads is a winner, but have you heard Alone at The Alexandra Palace? OMG on vinyl!

This morning is:
Sufjan Stevens - Come On Feel The Illinoise!...John Wayne Cacy is the creepiest song ever.
Ben Folds and WASO - Live in Perth...You can feel the fun the orchestra players are having.
Fleetwood Mac (w/Peter Green) - English Rose

ELO - A New World Record (inspired by youtube last night of Dhani Harrison's 2017 induction speech at Rock 'n Roll HOF)

The Claypool Lennon Delirium - South Of Reality

Party on, Jim!

@slaw Yeah, Kathleen Edwards is under-appreciated! Every release of hers stands the test of time.

Mendelssohn in Scotland - Peter Maag/LSO 1960 Kingsway Hall Decca reissue - wow!

Jackson Browne - Running On Empty  This one sounds so much better on vinyl than the digital version I'd been listening to for years. Such a great record from start to finish.

Robert Palmer - Double Fun
You Really Got Me never sounded so funky! Cheers,
Spencer
Yo La Tengo - There's A Riot Going On
Wynton Kelly Trio & Wes Montgomery - Smokin' at the Half Note 45
Peter Gabriel - Us
Temptations - Psychedelic Shack

@slaw I've got digital version of Watson Twins' Fire Songs; it's just okay and very melancholy

Friday Finds are my Saturday spins:

@slaw @boxer12 +1 the Jenny Lewis & Rilo Kiley LPs! The early Rilos are all good too. Jenny & the Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat is the one that makes my desert island list. HARMONY, oh my.

@tomic601 love "Large Band" pretty good sounding for a digital recording.

Rickie Lee Jones - Traffic From Paradise

The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings - Naturally

Hey, thanks to everyone on this thread for their kind words. All I did was share musical suggestions, same thing you are doing here daily. So...

Wilco - Ode to Joy (pink vinyl from wilcostore, which is having a huge sale right now. BTW, they have $10 posters always designed by local artists from almost every show)

wilcodogs

Someone said Acony! Gillian Welch - Soul Journey

@nicks25 , @noromance ,
lol. Yeah @slipknot1 is one of my favorite people in the world. We built my rack together, listened to music hundreds of times, shared many a meal & drink. We both spent many years helping lead the Philadelphia Area Audio Group, a non-profit club that has grown and prospered. He retired, moved to somewhat remote VT mountain location, downsized his system and large lp collection a bit. He kinda tuned out to tune in.I owe him a call! Cheers,

Spencer
Rush,
Another to add to any short list of Reggae Classics should also include the soundtrack to the the film "The Harder They Come", which is often filed under Jimmy Cliff. Although it features many artists such as Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy usually gets the credit.
Cheers,
Spencer
