Macdadtexas-Great choices!!! Were the STP/Soundgarden original pressings? How would you rate the sound quality of these 2 "grunge" vinyl recordings? |
+1 mammothguy54 Manfred Mann/Watch is one of his best. |
+1 flennon. I have to admit your the king(playlist) of newer posters! Please try to stay humble. |
@mammothguy54 Just want to let you know I have the vinyl version of "Forbidden Colors" do not know if the cd version has audiophile level sound quality. |
+1 mammothguy54 Tania Maria gets very little mention here. If you don’t have "Forbidden Colors" 1988 Capitol release, please consider purchasing this 5 star audiophile level recording it could be her best. |
Rickey Skaggs-Highways & Heartaches Side 2 SQ 4.3 The Knack-Get The Knack Side 2 SQ 4.5 Barbra Streisand-The Broadway Album Side 2 SQ 4.4 Rare Silk-New Weave Side 2 SQ 4.4 Itzhak Perlman-Mendelssohn Concerto(Angel DS-38150} Side 1 SQ 4.5 Kate Wolf-Safe At Anchor Side 1 SQ 4.5 Hall & Oates-Fast Times Behind Side 2 SQ 4.3 Roberta Flack-Killing Me Softly-Side 1 SQ 4.4 Cat Stevens-Teaser And The Firecat Side 2 SQ 4.6 Queen-Greatest Hits Side 1 SQ 4,4
All recordings were played last night. Played some favorites(that were not boxed). Safe At Anchor might be my favorite "folk" album. along with Get The Knack fav "power pop" recording. My wife Loves Teaser And The Firecat as much as any of the Eagles/Hall & Oates or Duran Duran recordings. The Perlman version of the Mendelssohn Concerto is a favorite for both of us. After all is and done a great night of music. With my system down for about 6 weeks I will have more time to delve into my CD collection playing on a Panasonic RX-DS 750 or SA-PM03, which both sound OK. Will keep up with this blog and will probably add a comment or two.

Thx mammothguy54!
Yes it is a pain(moving) but it's also a renewal. |
Thx spiritofradio.
Moving vinyl is the biggest pain but our dreaded Pacifica makes moving vinyl/cd"s and gear much easier. |
+1 boxer12. Thx for the encouraging words! |

FYI- Played a couple extra sides tonight will do the same on Tuesday(last day). I am in the process of moving as you might expect my system will be down for a while. Hopefully everything will be back in order right after Labor Day. |
+3 mammothguy54 All great albums! If you have time maybe you could contribute to my Windham Hill Top 5 Thread? |

+1 Blue Rodeo Tremolo. From the late 80’s to late 90’s I have always thought Blue Rodeo was one of the best mainstream rock bands. "Five Days In July" IMO is one of best pop/rock albums(all genres} of the 90’s. |

+1 big_greg Might be Harry Chapin's best recording! |
+2 spritofradio. Yes I do need Looking Glass /ST album added in my collection. Elliot Lurie also released a solo album with a great song "Rainbow Girl". Not sure how strong the whole album is. |
+1 spiritofradio SQ is above average(somewhat aggressive) but it could be system or power issues. Great album jacket! |

FYI-SQ on Mel Torme and Joan Baez was disappointing considering Concord Jazz and Vanguard labels. I was generous with(all) my ratings since i had my power amp in the conditioner due to poor wall power today. Lighthouse ST might interest some BS&T meet The Doors. |

FWIW-Back after missing 2 Sundays and a Tuesday. A Memorial Day 3 day vacation and my niece had a graduation dinner yesterday altered my playback schedule. Playing Peter Gabriel So brought an unexpected(to me) emotional moment with my wife. Reminded her of wearing out the cassette tape while commuting to college. The power of music!!! |
+1 au_lait Teena Marie released 9 albums from 1979-90 all have strong musical and lyrical content. Which IMO gives Lady T the title of the queen of 1980’s R&B. |

Thx spiritofradio! My copy of Jail Break is VG+(vinyl) a garage sale find. Had to toss the damaged moldy jacket. The vinyl was just scuffed no real damage just a cloudy finish even after a spin on my Nitty Gritty. Not a bad sounding recording(4.2) but a near mint original copy could raise it to another level. |
