What would you do if items from Ebay had beenlost?

I ordered three vintage Nos tubes from Ebay dealer.

it is supposed to be delivered today through USPS.

I had followed three packages through USPS tracking.

About 5 PM today, I got the email that all three packages got delivered at 4.11 pm left at front door or porch of my house.

But I could not find anything around my house.

My community comprised of 25 houses seated at 2 acres each on the cul de sac.

Thus it is very unlikely that stranger pick up the packages in less than an hour.


Thus I sent a following email to my neighbors but no positive response yet.


What would you do if you were me?

I had never lost a package delivered to my house last 5 years.

Hello neighbors
I was expecting three small packages through USPS.
Then I got the email that those were delivered on my front door at 4 PM today
But I could not find them on my front doors.
Sometimes they mis deliver to my neighbors.
If you happen to see three small packages delivered to Thomas Kong on your front door or porch, then please let me know it.

Thanks a lot Gentleman!

I will wait until Monday to see what happens!

Then I will contact Ebay dealer.

The last resort will be Paypal dispute resolution.

I have another thing coming tomorrow.

I hope that they deliver them together.

Otherwise I will drop at local Post office.

My town is small so there are only two or three delivery men so it may be easier to trace the lost packages.

I will also ask "signature required" for next delivery.

It is very unlikely that someone stole the package in 30 minutes in my small and isolated community.

I dropped at local post office this morning to explain what happened.

He traced the scanned location of delivery to the alley between my house and neighbor.

Usually they scanned it in front of my front door which is 100 ft from the alley.

Thus he asked whether my neighbor picked up them.

I explained that I found two packages delivered to my neighbor but not mine.

My new neighbor who moved 3 months ago is very friendly to me since she is also a photographer like me.


Another thing is that brand new guy did the job on Saturday.


He will contact me after more investigation.

Those Nos tubes cost me 340$.

It is not the matter of money.

If I am not comfortable about delivery, then I may spend less money on audio gadget.

I dropped at PO again about 20 minutes ago.

The guy who was supposed to deliver the package on Saturday works par time and will be back on only this coming Saturday.

But Postmaster will speak to him before then to find out what happened.

Since I  got mad about USPS delivery, no more purchase of vacuum tube this year.

I had almost pulled the trigger for another 6sn7 tubes.

One "brand new guy" let me save the money.

I am going through the PO to find out what happened.

It appears to be mistake from "new brand man".

in the worst case, I have to try to get my money back from Ebay seller through their insurance.

Happy but silly ending.

He left boxes in front of bedroom on the first floor, not in front of the main door.

I never thought he left packages over there.

The 8 year streak of not losing package either USPS, UPS or Fedex continues.

I love my peaceful town.

That is the last place that I had expected packages.

New brand guy found new place to leave packages.


By the way my house is in the rural area, but median price of housing sold in my zip code last month was 975,000$ just shy of 1 million.

This house is not mine but 3 miles from my house.

My house is slightly more than half of the above house, but also  with nice 180 degree western view.

I had been tube rolling with Line Magnetic 508 and Schitt Freya using various Nos 6sn7n and 6sl7.

So far my favorite with LM 508 is Rca vt231 and RCA 5691.

Out of curiosity, I had also pulled the trigger for Tungsol bgrp( holy grail ? claimed by some folk) which I expect to get next week.

Schitt Freya is also nice preamp in my headphone setup.


Sylvania vt231 in gain stage and RCA gray bottle in buffer stage give ideal combination of details speed and wide and deep soundstage but without hot edges.


Freya in the chain make sound out of 009s, sr1a and hd800s more refined and musical.
