What was the best “new to you” song/music/artist you heard at Axpona 2025?

I missed Axpona this year for the first time in many years due to new a new granddaughter in NC.  Lots of talks about the rooms and equipment, but it seems every year at Axpona, I stumble across a song/artist/album that I was unfamiliar with that just blew me away- both by the sonic and musical quality- and which I have added to my regular playlists.  These were always a pleasant surprise compared to the well known audiophile tracks that could be heard ad nauseam in many popular rooms.  Most of these discoveries occurred in the smaller less crowded hotel rooms, rather than the big popular suites.  I could give you a long list, but here are a couple that hit me in past:

“man in the long black coat” by Bob Dylan. I was always a Dylan fan, but was not familiar with this one. Love the eerie feeling of the percussion and vocal.

“song for Dennis brown” by the Mountain Goats.  Simple “right there” feeling. My son in law had told me about this band, but I had never given them a serious listen before.

So what new song/album/artist did you find magical at Axpona? Extra credit if you can very briefly mention what room you heard it in.

This was the first expo I ever exhibited at, and we had a heck of a time. Here’s the playlist I curated for our room in 1526:

A few of these tracks I’ve came across at other audio shows, but many other tracks were selected to highlight specific parts of the show system’s performance.

If you have interest in what was shown, you can visit this page:

There are also a few videos of the room posted by influencers and reviewers on YouTube.

AXPONA isn't a place to look for new music I'm afraid. Only room in AXPONA I've attended that had actual music and not some fart sounds last year was the MoFi Electronics room and the Lyngdorf room.

I assume it was the same this year with maybe an additional room.

Didn't go this year though, will be at High End Munich so going to AXPONA was tabled

If I remember correctly Andrew Jones played a Samara Joy song and that's the artiste I'd recommend if anyone is interested in some vocal jazz

@kofibaffour - I agree that Axpona isn’t a place to look for new music, that’s why I used the term “ stumbled upon”.   I will check out Samara Joy. Thanks.
