What type of oil for a Platine Verdier

Hi All

i just bought a used Platine Verdier, however the seller did not provide any oil. Any recommendations on the type of oil I should use?

thanks

as far as i can tell the idea is that the rocol does a specific job.  i have a very good but thin synthetic lube in it now and i have trouble getting the right speed (too fast).  the rocol will slow it down and this also will help dampen chatter/noise (i think).  JC Verdier wrote about this.  specifically how the friction to drive the platter because of the Rocol gives cover for stylus drag so we don't hear it.

You should get Motorcycle fork oil and get low viscosity oil such as a 5 weight which is much better than the Rocol oil.

Thanks Lew - that’s good advice

I heard back from Eric Verdier - they supply Rocol Ultraglide X5.

cheers

Andy

Verdier used to supply a particular bearing lubricant.  It's probably a good idea to stick with that. If Verdier no longer has a website, and if you are located in the USA, DeJaVu Audio in McLean, VA, may be able to help you out.
