MDF is very absorbent, so you should first apply several coats of a good sealer, sanding lightly between each coat. If you want a high gloss black finish without blemishes or streaks, you will have to spray paint the cabinets (preferably in an enclosure that will prevent dust in the air from settling on the wet paint). I do a fair amount of woodworking as a hobby, and I suggest you go to a local woodworker's store and talk to someone who is knowledgeable about some of the latest gloss finishes.
What kind of paint works best on MDF board?
I apologize if this is in the wrong section of forums, I'm new and I couldn't figure out which area to put it in. However, I'm in the process of building my own speakers, (going the morel route, etc...) to save money and I want a high gloss black finish on the MDF? Anyone who has experience, your feed back would be deeply appreciated!!!!
