What Is This Hobby?

I frequently see in this forum references to "this hobby" and I'm always a little confused by the phrase. What exactly is this hobby?

My hobby is listening to good music, not dabbling with toys. Also agree that it can be time consuming to get right so I suppose the time and dedication spent dabbling to get it right qualifies as a hobby, though it is a means to another end.
