What Do You Think?

I was browsing the electronics section on Craigslist and came across a pair of Magnepan MMGs for $450. The ad said there were multiple upgrades made by a guy in Chicago which seem to involve the crossovers. I looked on-line at prices and that seems to be about what they sell for, but without upgrades.

I don’t really have the room for these speakers and I know they need to be out from walls about 3 feet to sound their best. But if everything I’ve heard about magneplaners are true, and for this price, maybe I should get them and figure out how to use them later? What do you think?

You might consider ribbons, if space is an issue...

Nobody around here seems to consider these an item for a smaller space....

...and they're rarely seen 'for sale by owner'.  'One & Done', I guess.

...but I’m a ribbon fan...among other things....

ESL's like space as well, dipoles like the Maggies'...and most like subwoofers if you're into bass in your tunes...*S*

How big of a room?  Matching your speakers to the space can make a big difference in the 'enjoy factor'. ;)
