What do the arrows mean on my cable?

And how do I tell the difference between a digital cable and an RCA cable, they look the same.

Are the ones with the arrows more likely to be RCA for analog connections?

They told me it is just a guide for people to reconnect the cables the same direction when they disconnect and reconnect. Flipping the direction of the cable is fine, it just takes some time to settle in if you do that. If you reconnect in the same manner as the original connection there is no need for the cable to resettle.
