What are you streaming tonight?

As we are in the modern age of music I thought I would see how this fares.
We have threads specific for cdp and tt so why not streaming as it is a modern media.
I don't care if you stream Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, Paradise Radio or any number of internet stations.
I would like you to share your tastes and method of streaming.

Mathias Duplessy & the Violins of the World - Brothers of String

Qobuz Hi-Res
@164f .. discovery is perhaps the best aspect of streaming, no? I can't imagine living without at this point!

A guy on another forum (his taste is extraordinary) turned me on to a number of Nordic jazz artists years ago. I've been exploring them ever since, currently with Qobuz and occasionally Spotify if need be.

@ghjuvanni .. artists on ACT, ECM, and Blue Note are often on my system. Love Michael Wollny BTW.

If you like interesting fusions of Eastern and Western music, listen to Ibrahim Maalouf - 40 Melodies

Yes, very much like Ibrahim Maalouf!  I used to have S3NS on pretty regular rotation, haven't visited it lately, but will revisit his catalog today!  Thanks!

For anyone interested, I should also mention Anouar Brahem's output for ECM.

ZM,

If you like interesting fusions of Eastern and Western music, listen to Ibrahim Maalouf - 40 Melodies.   A Lebanese musician who studied in Paris and plays a mean trumpet.
Mathias Duplessy & the Violins of the World - Brothers of String.  Really interesting fusion of Eastern and Western folk traditions, and beautifully recorded to boot.

Thanks to Radio Paradise for introducing me to this!

i agree with you both!  When I sold my records and leaned into streaming, I noticed two things:

1- I spent more time listening to music, instead of searching, buying, cleaning, inputting, etc, and

2- I listened to more music outside of my usual genres, e.g. I’ve been finding lots of Norwegian and Icelandic music that I’ve loved, as well as some Brazilian and Jazz stuff I haven’t heard in years.

@melvinjames

As a user of Qobuz for over a year now, I listen to music not known to me before 80% of the time.  And I hardly listen to any of my about 2,000 CDs anymore.  A lot of great music on ECM (of course), but also on ACT.

Pretty much everything by Marcin Wasilewski (and company),
anything by Michael  Wollny, Bugge Wesseltoft (incl. Rymden), Michel Benita
Tord Gustavsen Trio "Changing Places"

streaming from my library

@ghjuvanni .. I've also discovered a boatload of new (to me) music thanks to threads like this one. Cheers and good listening!

@melvinjames You are being closely followed! (by me). Great selections that teach me about wonderful Jazz I oftentimes didn't know!
Myself I am exploring the catalogue of the ACT label these days, including great Norwegian artists. Right now listening to "Closer" by Bertine Zetlitz.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Idiot Prayer- Nick Cave Alone At Alexandra Palace

Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra - Mahler: Symphony No. 5

Qobuz Hi-Res

On another forum someone asked, “What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system?”. Several mentioned Mahlers Symphony No. 5, so even though I don’t listen much to classical music I thought I would give it a try.   Enjoyable
Another fine album by Eddie Higgins Quartet (featuring Scott Hamilton) "My Funny Valentine"

Qobuz

Nanci Griffith - From A Distance: The Very Best Of Nanci Griffith

Qobuz

A very nice retrospective of her body of work.  My very first alt-country love from my Austin days.
This morning's album is also lovely for a late evening session.

Eddie Higgins Quartet (featuring Scott Hamilton) "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"

Steve Guttenberg specifically mentions Ike Quebec’s “Soul Samba” in this mornings video. I decided on “Blue and Sentimental” because it was in Hi-Res, but plan to get to “Soul Samba” later.
Love Ike Quebec! If you like Bossa Nova his "Soul Samba" album is terrific. "Easy Living" is quite good as well.
Steve Gutenberg “The Audiophiliac” did a nice compare and contrast between vinyl and streaming this morning. He had some interesting music selections that I think I’ll be checking out this morning.

Gudrun Gut - I Put A Record On

It's Monday. Must be my Spotify Discover Weekly...........

As usual, a few good, newly discovered tracks.
Johnny Cash - Johnny Cash and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Qobuz Hi-Res
Various Artists - Strum and Thrum: The American Jangle Underground 1983-1987
Chris Stapleton - Starting Over

Qobuz Hi-Res

A little outlaw country to start the weekend.
AC/DC - Power Up, Qobuz Hi-Res.  This might be the best record they've done in a long time!
