Warning: China-Hifi-Audio.com

I just wanted to pass along some concerns with this dealer.

I ordered a tube amp a couple weeks ago that was shown in stock (actually listed as a discounted customer return). and after 8 days of waiting for a shipping notification I asked about the status and was told it was delayed because the owner had to verify his UPS account. ??? They listed DHL Fedex and UPS as shipping services with 3 - 7 day delivery time for the $595 shipping charge I paid.

Since that response I have asked several times to cancel the order and even thru Paypal communications but am now being ignored. No refund and no shipment. So now it is in Paypal claim and I will be waiting many more days to see a refund.

Very disappointing experience with this dealer.

The amp was Willsenton R-800i 300B 845.

I just got the refund email from Paypal. Maybe the seller reads this forum?

Lesson learned. If you order from them try emailing first to be sure item is in stock.

Thank you for all your helpful comments.

It was a customer return at a discounted price that was inspected and certified as in new condition. What this dealer does apparently is not actively update his listings and many items it turns out he does not actually have items in stock ever though he shows on his website that he had 5 of them for example.

Of all the China dealers he is the one mentioned the most on Youtube reviews of Muzishare and Willsenton and others. I had assumed he was safe. I think he is just a lazy liar now.

And yes $595 for shipping. Probably $200 of that or more is profit but the item price was good so it offset the shipping cost.

I previously purchased a Muzishare X7 from TubeAmplfierStore on Amazon and it was quick free shipping from China to me in under a week. Different story with China-Hifi. What makes me angry is that there is an open claim on Paypal and he cannot even bother to just respond to it so I can have my refund. He is being spiteful and delaying the refund on purpose.
"I agree with the above post. When you think of all the good tube amps you can get that are already stateside, why pay 600.00 shipping for something from China. Hell if you really want a chinese amp, there are plenty of resellers here that will help you out."

The amp was $800 less than buying from the Amazon dealer (including tax). By all means let me know which USA dealer has these products or something equivalent for a similar price?
"Why would you buy any Chinese dealer stuff??"

Because the actual items are good for the price. I have a Willsenton R-300B and Muzishare X7 and would recommend both.

There are a lot of good reviews on Youtube from Steve Guttenberg, Zero Fidelity, Thomas and Stereo and others of Chinese gear. But yes I do believe in supporting USA and Europe and others when I can. Have bought Schiit and NAD and others recently too. Just have to be careful which Chinese dealer you use.
"Sounds to me like the seller acted in good faith and that the buyer has little to complain about.  As noted above, you cannot expect a transaction where neither party is fluent in the other's language to go completely smoothly and efficiently."

The seller acted in good faith by selling an item he did not even have and ignoring messages and delaying a refund for 2 weeks. The sellers english is fine.

Seriously???

Once again I will warn to act with caution if buying from that site.
I just checked again for that same amp it is $595.80 for Fedex / UPS/ DHL 3-7 day shipping to USA. It weighs 48kg. That may be the real cost. I know international shipping has gotten more expensive. Some of the other amps are $300 to ship but they weigh half as much.

I have read other posts about the owner in product reviews both good and bad. He may be a nice guy and just overworked.
For anyone who missed it above the seller just refunded thru Paypal today. Maybe because they saw this or another post about them.

It was a Willsenton R-800i single ended integrated amp with 300B and 845 tubes. Price shipped was $2k. for the customer return item. I would guess with double box the shipping weight was close to 100lbs. So I figured there was maybe $200 profit in the shipping price.

But as I said I welcome any suggestions on a 300B/845 amp that can be had in USA for $2k. I am still looking for something.

Thanks.
"Try and buy a better DAC than from Matrix Audio (based in Xi'an). Best ESS DAC chip, other parts are top-of-the-line, build quality is perfect, good looking design, all the bells and whistles including balanced connections. My unit even has the ability to take I2S input!  "

Denafrips Terminator!

(I only have Pontus - not rich enough to pay extra for the Terminator).
"I would like to share my experience with China HIFI, I bought ampli Willsenton R8 and separately speakers Sound Artist LS3/5A, both exceptional products at great prices. Customer service from Yong Lee (Owner) was also very professional and attentive. Only issue is that his English is not the best so one should be very clear when communicating with him.
I find it unfair to smear somebody's name before all the facts are in and think it would be a good idea if Audiogon and calieng provided a clear disclaimer about this warning.
Please let me know if I can help and I will be more than happy to contact Yong Lee and make sure this issue is resolved."

There is no smear only facts -

He sold a product he did not actually have in stock. He ignored messages. Did not promptly refund when asked to cancel the order. He lied about having issues with UPS when he actually usually ships Fedex or DHL. He is TubeAmplifierStore on Amazon.com and has been doing ongoing business during this period.

It is fine to make a mistake or be overworked but do not lie about UPS to cover for it.

Make of it what you will but FEEDBACK about this merchant has been provided!
Buying a few tube amps from some Chinese brands that have come up with some nice designs will not change the geo-political situation in our world. Stop shopping at Walmart and on Amazon if you really want to make a difference.

As someone with an engineering degree and who has scratch built guitar tube amplifiers I can say that what I have received from Willsenton and Muzishare had been excellent quality for the money including point to point wiring and components from Germany and Japan. I have enjoyed trying them. My Yamaha A-S2200 sounds like an AM/FM radio in comparison.
"OK, I understand your situation, I just wanted to share my very good experience with Yong, I emailed him about this exchange and look forward to his reply that I will promptly post in this discussion.  "

You are welcome to do that. Both sides should be heard.

Also ask why he represents himself as TubeAmplifierStore on Amazon with address : 1520 Orchard street, RACINE WI 53405 when the items actually ship from Chini-Hifi in China. I know because that was where my Muzishare X7 came from thinking I was actually buying from a US distributor. I have all the details including a message from them...Amazon Message:

"Hi Chris,

Do you have MUZISHARE R100 available? ===YES. We have stock.
Do you have your own website to look at items available?====We could create a link for you on AMAZON soon or you could go to China hifi audio com to find it. Thank you!"

It is deceitful for China-Hifi to represent themselves as a USA distributor and also a lie that there were issues with UPS that delayed my other order. TubeAmplifierStore (China-Hifi) shipped Muzishare X7 by DHL during the same week I was being ignored about the status of my other order and ignored about processing a refund.

I am angry they fooled me (and apparently others) into buying from them again and thinking we were supporting a USA distributor!

I bought a couple of Leica camera lens from dealers in Hong Kong this year. Their customer service surpassed anything I have experienced. Items were better than described and ultra fast shipping. In one case I received the lens the next day Fedex overnight service. And in all cases received within a couple days max. That is why it was so shocking to see the absolutely poor customer service from these Chinese amp dealers. But then they are in mainland China with maybe a different ethic about customers than Hong Kong. You would think for $595 shipping they would actually get it to you in the 3 - 7 days they advertise.

But for those bashing the product I say again they are really good for the money. Too bad the dealers mostly suck.
Well China experiment #2 a total failure....so I tried another dealer. Hifi-Equis. Ordered the Muzishare R100  845 amp. They sent it DHL in the original box - no double box. DHL literally dropped it on my front porch on the side. Hole in the side of the box. Big crease where it was dropped somewhere before. Open the box up and the faceplate is completely broken away from the chassis. Did you know Muzishare just glues these aluminum faceplates to the chassis? For a 100 lb amp no brakets or screws holding it on.....I am the dumbest person on the planet but will not be fooled a third time. I am official done with Chifi.

@ivandaterrible - not sure who you are replying to but all these mainland China dealers are liars. It's just how they have learned to do business.

China-Hifi often shows items in stock that he does not actually have and then often ignores your emails hoping you will just wait until the item is in stock.

If you guys want to deal with that then go for it.

But China-Hifi is wayyy better than Hifi-Exquis that is for sure. I would agree with that. Maybe because they are also called Tubeamplifier Store on Amazon so they have had to learn the rules Amazon forces on them.

And I do not even know what heaphone.com is so I guess maybe you were trying to reply to someone else.....who cares - f*ck China.

@kingbarbuda:

I have the Aries II and Pontus. Both excellent. And yes there are some excellent Chinese companies. And Vinshine is an example of a very good dealer.

I am trashing mainland China dealers. I have dealt with China Hifi a few times before and he was actually ok...not great but ok previous times. He did sell things not in stock and then hope I would just wait many weeks for it but the last time his customer service was terrible.

But Hifi-Exquis are absolute liars and terrible to deal with. No insurance on 100 lb package, single boxed, jerking me around to make it my responsibility to fix....that is a whole other story - avoid them at all costs.

In general that is my point - China dealers (not manufacturers) cannot be trusted. And after COVID I guess I have gone from loving my fellow man to having a hate for Chinese government (not the people) so maybe this is venting a bit too....

And everyone who thinks it was dumb to buy from China - get off your high horse and stop shopping at Walmart and Amazon then. They have singlehandedly destroyed western manufacturing and are the two great evils of western society.

OK. Your information is good to have too. Now people considering a purchase have the full picture.

You can buy from him thru Amazon in USA as TubeAmplifierStore and likely much safer and quicker. I would recommend that method instead of buying direct from his website.

That is his business model. Sell items he does not even have in stock and then make you wait and ignore emails. Then his buddies have to come on here and do damage control for him.

This is not a rare occurrence. It is how it normally goes. You are the exception if you actually get your item sent promptly.
