Wadia 861 [2 box] never heard of this are you possibly referring to the Wadia 27ix and Wadia 270 transport ?
the 861 has digital output connections whereas the 861 basic doesn't have digital outputs I believe is the only difference between the two players. Wadia makes excellent products sonically and mechanically. only other player I would recommend is the Audio Aero Capitol Mark 2
