Check ebay. I found an Allied Radio catalog from the late sixties for a pittance.
Vintage 1960s Pickering print ad
This is an especially arcane inquiry, but I am searching for a
vintage ad for Pickering Cartridges which was published more than
once in High Fidelity in the mid-1960s (perhaps other
journals too). It depicts ten famous composers gathered together,
including Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Wagner, Liszt,
Brahms, Tchaikovsky, but with Beethoven at the front, holding an ear
trumpet and asking WAS? The text heading beneath the
drawing reads: "Nine out of ten musical people prefer the sound of
Pickering," with poor Ludwig, of course, being in no condition to
vouch for any sonic qualities. I have a sepia version published in
the May 1965 issue, but I distinctly recall a full color version
being printed in later issues. Can anyone direct me to a specific
issue of HF or other periodicals where this can be found? Any
assistance is most appreciated.
