Vertere Audio Sabre MM Phono Cartridge

I have been reading good things about the Sabre Moving Magnet phono cartridge from Vertere Audio. I am kind of interested in this cartridge to add to my collection. I am curious if anyone has ever heard it? Safe and Sound HQ Audio in Chicopee, Ma carries the line, and I plan on going up after Christmas to listen. They have that cartridge in stock. If anyone knows anything about it, please chime in.

I had a look, you have some very nice equipment, and interesting spaces, that’s one huge office you have fun with those JBL’s,

Another member two hours away, (in dreaded Long Island) has the same Golden Ear Triton speakers, I’m gonna pick a time to visit and hear them.

Neither of us, living in these dense areas, has large spaces like you do.

Didn’t know of the cartridge, hopefully a member or two know it.

I looked it up, la de da, hmmmm, interesting, oh, it’s an elliptical, no way would I spend that kind of money on an elliptical shape.

I see you have an Audio Technica 540ML, Microline on Aluminum cantilever, I am going to presume it is used, perhaps worn, correct? If so,

new Microline on Aluminum stylus for 440/540/740, $210.

I still use a 440ml that I kept nearly virgin, bought with and used my Shure V15Vxmr because it had the brush which helped with my bouncy wood floors in prior location.

I encourage you to select a combo of an Advanced Stylus Shape on a stiffer Boron Cantilever, add that to your collection.

check the stereo separation and channel balance specs of the cartridge, refurb a good body

using a Shure 97xe body

Shure 97xe body, worn stylus, only $100.

JICO SAS on Boron for shure 97xe body, $280.

of course you could always put a new elliptical stylus in it, and have the ability to hear only the stylus profile differences between elliptical/aluminum and SAS/Boron.

or, get a more expensive harder to find Shure V15Vmr or xmr body, put Jico’s SAS/B in it.

lucky find, it’s not the xmr, it’s the prior mr model, but you are not going to use the Shure Beryllium Stylus anyway, so it’s a terrific opportunity IMO

V15Vmr body $150.

Jico SAS/B for V15vxmr body, $280.
