Velodyne ULD-15 series II X-over and cable ??? s

Dave Santos at Velodyne returned my call not only same day but within a few hours, then faxed me the info I need. I almost feel bad for doubting anyone there would help out.

So, now we're down to just the powercord- any input?

I put a new power cord on my sub amp last night. El Cheapo 12/3 power cord from Home Depot and a decent plug. It's only a 2 conductor cord, but they didn't have 12/2 power cord. Anything would have to be a huge upgrade from the 18/2 factory cord. I also soldered a connection on the hot side that used to be a crimped blade connector "slip on" and installed a gold plated audiophile grade fuse I had laying around. Total investment $7.50, a grommet, 4" of solder, 3 zip ties + 20 minutes.

Improvement? HUGE, it sounds like an 18" sub now. My entire house shook! The blacks are blacker, the background quieter, the booms boomier and my dishes have never been cleaner!!!

Nawww. Just kidding.

I do think the old cord was "strangling" the amp a bit, however, since the first thing I had to do was go down 2 hash marks on the volume dial on the sub amp. The sound quality is not noticeably different at this time, but it is a sub after all.

Maybe if I cryo the volume knob...

I've changed the power cord on mine to a thicker, shielded Belden cord. Actually, mine is a ULD 18 MkII, which I believe uses the same amp.

Didn't really notice any difference, I must say.

Does anyone have the R value and position to lower the crossover point on the uld 15 ii. ?

Yes. There isn't a single crossover point - there are separate resistor positions for the high pass and low pass frequencies. What frequency do you want for each? The separate adjustments make it possible to provide for an overlap between the sub and main speakers.
