Vandersteen 2c vs Thiel CS2

About the same price but which one is a better deal? What are the cons and pros of each? Currently have an Aragon amp with an emotiva preamp with Von Schweikert VR-1 speakers. Also an mk sub. What should I buy or just keep my current bookshelf ones?

I think parts go thru dealers but repairs direct to Vandersteen. Who is your local dealer ?

Those are the older stands but quite good with the Hilti carpet spikes. Lots of changes and upgrades since that circa Model 2c.... but they dna and bones are all there :-) iF you want to change sock colors, others are available- have fun, enjoy
OP - fantastic that you have an SPL meter !!!
in addition to level matching- listen for hours - listener fatigue is real :-) enjoy your journey and as others have said share your travels and decision
@beatle ya that would be the holy grail but then the ever restless and innovative Mr. Vandersteen would start polishing it.... I told this story on another thread - talking with Richard one day early in Covid shutdown - he was a work by himself - he said I have several changes I am making to the Model 2 to make it better - and now here we are !!!!! Since 1977
Since you have a sub, might I also suggest a new Pair of Vandersteen VLR on stands for < $1,500  Later add a Vandy sub 3 and have a remarkable system
How fun, iF you buy and try them all - please level match to ensure a good comparison- louder and brighter is not better. :-) a decent reliable SPL meter is $50, will put you ahead of many....except Audiogon which is like Lake Wobegon “ where everyone is above average “...

As a Vandersteen AND Thiel owner ( check virtual systems, ) I would encourage you to try both, they both will reward fanatical setup. Obviously Vandy is still in business with parts, support. There is also support for Thiel with some parts being unobtainable- Rob at Coherent Source could answer specific parts at risk.

have fun, enjoy the music
