VANDERSTEEN 2C or CABASSE 321 M3 question

Volume will be limited.  I don’t know how loud you listen or how big your room is but be careful.  Tube amps clip much nicer than SS amps and are harder to detect that they are clipping.  Could ruin your speakers if not careful.  It might sound better and be safer using the 4 ohm setting?  I would get other opinions on this though.

If you are married to making this amp sound great, I’d sell both speakers and get some high efficiency Klipsch’s, single driver Omegas, or Zu’s. I have a feeling that the Cabasse’s, while at 94 db efficient probably go well below 8 ohms. Klipsch’s sound great on low powered SE tube amps.

The 5/15 wpc Antique Sound Lab MG15siDT, if you can find one, might be a great low powered choice with the Cabasse’s or a PP EL84 amp that would give you approx 15-20 wpc.

They are rated at 94 db efficient but I don’t know what their impedance curve looks like, so I’d be careful in matching it with a low powered tube amp, although it all really depends on what you mean when you say “low powered tube amp?”

Are you referring to a single ended Triode tube amp utilizing a 45, 2A3, or 300B tube?  Or a higher powered SET amp that uses an 845 tube, or low powered push pull tube amp that uses an EL84 (6BQ5)? How big is your listening room and do you listen loud?  
 

I think the Cabasse might be a better match with a lower powered amp than the Vandersteen.  For me, I know I prefer rare gear so I’d keep the Cabasse over the Vandersteen 2C.

Let us know what kind of tube amp you are thinking of using with the Cabasse.
