VA vs. Watts? How much power do I need? Power cond

Hello,

My prologue amp says it has 300 watts power consumption. And my NAIM cd player says 12VA. How do they add up(watts and VA)? I am trying to figure out the max power I need to select the correct power conditioner.

i am so hopeless with these tech subjects:)

Not into a reactive or capacitive load, only into a purely resistive load, does VA=watts.

Actually you don't multiple the VA by 2 to get Watts consumed, but divide the VA by the sine of the phase angle difference, which can be around 0.98 in typical systems. A .5 value would be really extreme. BTW, the household meter for power consumption uses around 0.98 as the power factor.
