VA: Anybody in southern VA interested in an audio club?

Nothing too formal, just get togethers for chewing the audio fat and listening to some tunes (while consuming your favorite beverage).

All interested reply here or by email.

Would like to share tunes with others. Also discuss hardware. I live in NC about 40 minutes south of the border.
ozzy..sounds great. i live in danville,va..just 45 minutes north of greensboro,nc.
SO what was the verdict on this? I live in VB and am interested as well, although it sounds like we have quite a broad Geography between us.
I live in Northern Va. (Alexandria). I know a couple of crazies here that would probably be interested.
We are a store in Salem, Va annd have a few customers that want to start up a Audio Club. Is anyone else interested?
Any ideas are welcome.
I live in Suffolk. I have patronized Digital Sound and others in the area the past 15 years...
I live in Olde Towne Portsmouth...and have an interest in getting a group together once a month to talk shop and play some tunes. I was in such a group in Emporia for several years and they are still meeting and have formed a second Richmond group.
Let's do it.
I am also interested in trying a get together of local audiophiles. Who would like to be the first to volunteer their home for the gathering?
Give me a week and I'm in. I am moving back from Mass where I spent the last 6 months. My system is basic and simple but would love to listen to others and to have your inputs on setting my room up.

I am into HT mostly. However, I used to own a PS Audio DAC/Rotel CD combo and a tube preamp 10 years ago. I have had my current system for many years.

Acurus ACT-3
3 Rotel Amps
Sony 6-Disc Changer
Klipsch Sub
Vandersteen 2Ce Fronts and VCC-1 Center
M&K rears
Directv
HDTV

I am looking to "downgrade" to a quality AV receiver to minimize the interconnect nightmare.
HT is cool. are you going to have a 2 channel setup? I just got a Rotel cdp and a Linn pre amp. I have an old sony ES changer that I just had serviced for a second system. My HT is weak, Phillips kit and Phillips 32 inch tv.
FYI First meeting scheduled here in Hampton Roads Feb. 8, 2007 with 4 guys to start.
So what happened to the Virginia Audio Group?
Any of you folks in the Lynchburg/Roanoke area?
I did not see your reply, sorry.
It would seem that we have slim pickin's here.
I am in Bedford county, just about midpoint between Roanoke and Lynchburg.
I would love to meet a few people interested in experimenting a bit. The flea power concept interests me greatly, as it is heavily DIY and the speaker designs are a tinkerers delight.

I wish there was a group within a couple hours drive that could meet for a "weekly recording listen." The lack of record retailers is depressing and audio people must unite to find the new and interesting music!
I'm in Chesapeake, Indian River area. Looking for a club to hook up with. So how do I go about it? Informal meets would be cool.

Dave
There is a small group of us meeting periodically in the Portsmouth & Norfolk area. We are about to have our last meeting before the summer break. More to follow.

Portsmouth
Anyone near Roanoke that can help set up new cartridge on Thorens. Never done it. Have instructions and shure gauge, but nothing beats experience.
Check out the Capital Audiofest 2011 updates. Hope to see you there. www.capitalaudiofest.com
Still 35 minutes from Roanoke and 20 minutes from downtown Lynchburg.
Sure would like to link up with others.
Norfolk is a bit far, but even that now and then would be fun.
Gumby,

email me at ozzy62@verizon.net

I am in Lynchburg. Although we have nothing formal, there are a few of us around here. Love to meet you and listen sometime.

Shakey
Just to let you know there is a great club in the DC area named DCDIY and made a great showing at the Capital Audiofest last event. www.capitalaudiofest.com Sounds like they plan to have a room again this year.
Update on hampton Roads Group
Our small group is going strong with a monthly session and next month marks our 5th year. We do have some guests allowed from time to time and a few bonus sessions in addition to the regular listening session. We are mainly about sharing the music. System tweaking and gear talk is usually not a part of our listening sessions.
