Using Optical Network Port on a Lumin U2

I am looking to use the Optical Network Port on a Lumin U2 Streamer.

I have a 50 ft cable run that already has CAT 6A cable.

I will be adding the SOtM 10GB switch and need advice on hook up options.

Either:

1) Get a Ethernet to Fiber converter to plug the existing cable into then >  Fiber to the Lumin U2.

2) Run a Fiber optic cable from the SFP port of the SOtM 10G switch to the Fiber optical network port on a Lumin U2 Streamer.

Which option should I use and what gear / cable(s) do I need?

Budget would be up to or around $1000

Honestly I haven’t experimented much outside of fiber optic converters. I got the LinkUp Ethernet and whatever the generic fiber I found….my order…

Can’t tell you anything about fiber optic cables but that LinkUp Ethernet cable is really nice

@efoo option 1 is an easiest to test - get the converters on Amazon. If you don’t like the results, return them. Your option 2 is similar to what @ozzy uses with his Lumin and we just chatted about it here - he uses EtherREGEN to output fiber optic.
If you end up using fiber optic, get a long cable and keep all the switches, routers, converters etc as far away from the component rack as you can.

I take it any fiber optic cable will do. It’s not susceptible to emi and rfi. I wouldn’t go crazy there. It’s a great option to have in a streamer.
