USB Audio Question

Hi

I have a Bryston SP-3 Home Theater Preamp (fairly high end and marvelous) with the older boards and the USB input is USB 2.0 Type A STEREO PCM 48K/16BIT resolution.

For my source I am using a Wadia 170i that outputs digital bypassing the 30 cent Dacs in the ipod to coax digital-in on the Bryston.

The music is standard red book CD's ripped in Apple Lossless and for fun I have a Theta Digital TLC for jitter reduction as well as a Catalina Audio power supply for the Wadia. I am thinking of hooking up my A&K as a newer storage device, it can do hi rez but my source (the cd's) are still the limiting factor.

Is my thinking correct in that as long as I am ripping red book cd's to any player there is no benefit to an upgraded USB board that can do hi-res formats. (I use vinyl and SACD for hi res) and the dated USB input is still sufficient?

Thank You for any assistance.

Thanks for responding

I only have a dozen or so and play the SACD's analog out on the OPPO. So no additional benefit for the red book CD's and my USB input is current for these?
