Upgrading from. Rega Planar 6 to a Planar 8??

Greetings everyone. I currently own a Rega Planar 6/ Hana SL combo. Would like to know if the jump to a P6 is worth it. Love the current set up and would like to hear opinions from some of you.

Thanks so much.

I've owned the P6, P8 and P10. The P6 is a very good turntable. The P8 is similar but noticeably better. The P10 sounds quite different, and is not necessarily an improvement, depending on personal preference. Personally, I prefer the P8 to the P10, which I find bright and somewhat brittle sounding.

As you like the P6, and the P8 is an improved version of the same sound, it is an easy recommendation. You can always improve the P8 later by replacing the arm with the RB3000, which is another modest but noticeable improvement.

Thanks to your responses. I do tend to like a darker sound and have heard the P10 with Hana red and it can be too much. Rega cartridges are definitely not in play since I went through 3 Rega Exacts and the built quality is horrible.

there are many good mods to do to your P6 prior to upgrading, you may not want to bother upgrading after some of them. google upgrades for youer P6 and see whats available. My friend did a few of the popular ones on his and it was a good improvement and closes the gap more then we'd  like to admit over the P8. I think He did the belt doubled up, sub plater, brace and motor drive wheel ( part of the belt doubling).

Put a Lyra Delos on the P10 and it will be anything but bright and brittle. The Lowly Delos is better than any Hana cartridge and the RB3000 is one of the best tonearms made. Ultimately, all of these tables need to be on an isolation platform. I agree with you on Rega cartridges.
